What misconceptions and mistakes (scientific, etc) really bother you in games?

Probably already posted but..
Being able to stand up perfectly straight while holding and shooting sniper rifles, or any gun for that matter. Cod4 is the only game (That I have played) that actually got sniping right (even then...) and that was only on single player on the Pripyat mission.
Russian strategy games that have all the german tanks underpowered.
Theatre of War is great example of this, Early T34 200m from a Tiger Tank with it's front armor exposed directly at Tiger, Tiger shoots a HEAT at it and hits.
The T34 doesn't take damage, and keeps on moving and shooting

At least it's not Deus Ex where it's like JC Denton drank fifty cans of Red Bull before you start the game.
ACTUALLY, i've managed to use peoples IP's on google maps years ago to locate the house they live in... Thus, looking up their address could lead to a name.
You can't locate someone using their IP. Sorry.
You can't even get results using IP's on google maps.

You can use ips to find addresses. You think 4chan just pulls the address out of their ass? How do you think they trace people who are torrenting?

Unless you're incredibly lucky, you aren't going to do it.
First of all, it never gives out the full address of the house, it only gives the name of a city. If you can find out someone's house from that, unless they've described it to you, then you're a fucking genius.
Also, half the time, the city is wrong, so you have to hope that it's right.
... What KIND of ironsights? If your talking about bead sights then your wrong.
What I'm taking about more applies to raised optics.
Well, the ship might have bosters/jets/ w/e in the front of it to keep it from moving.
If a round isn't chambered, then yea, you HAVE to do that once you reload... Duh.
Anyway. Nukes in space are almost always done wrong. Pistols being able to shoot locks open (no, they CAN'T, look it up), for the most part, grenades aren't too over-exaggerated, if anything there UNDER-exaggerated.
But, most of the time i remember, THESE ARE GAMES. I don't hear people complaining about the ending to jaws as being not scientificaly possible. Well, mabye one thing bothers me, ALL EXPLOSIVE BARRELS ARE ALWAYS RED.
Depends on where the shot is placed and what kind of lock it is.
And yeah, shrapnel from grenades can travel a LONG way before it loses the power to seriously injure.

99% of the time it gives the city where the exchange for your IP is. If you live in large city, there's high chance the city will be right. If you live in rural areas, it'll mostly show very different place.
Also, 4chan tracks people by searching internets. People leave snippets of their personal info around.
Reloading, then mid reload being interrupted, then starting reload from start.
Also, games where you fall off a high object and it does min damage.
i think nobody ever mentioned this:
GASOLINE AND PROPANE TANKS DON'T BLOW UP WHEN SHOT!
thank you Mythbusters for clearing that out
Fucking hate it in most shooters how raising the difficulty basically means you have less health and your guns deal less damage. I also got pissed with CoD: World at Waron veteran difficulty when you were just spammed with grenades. The least developers could these days is have smarter enemies at higher difficulties, or throw surprises in to catch the player off guard.
At least in decent driving games a higher difficulty means your opponents drive with more technique through corners, they're more aggressive and your car becomes more susceptible to being damaged in collisions.
Your ammo magically turned into full magazines when you reload a half empty mag.
Your ammo magically turned into full magazines when you reload a half empty mag.
What, you want to sit 2 minutes waiting while your character puts every bullet to fill the magazine up?

Not anymore atleast, and tell that to my friend on steam, who's IP i used to freak him out by knowing plenty of information about him that i wouldn't normally know.

Oh how wrong you are.

And ontop of that, i know from experiance, as i've killed Doves from atleast 40 yards away with a 12 guage. Seriously, you have to be pretty weak to not be able to fire a gun standing up.

Uh, I'd gladly tell that to your friend on Steam, but I don't really see the point.
All you'd be able to tell is what city they live in, and who hosts their internet, unless he described your house and you searched all over the city and found it by luck.

If you shoot it and it's very close to fire/on fire, the results will be even MORE catastrophic then if it were to explode.

Erm, no, it actually zoomed in to the block he was living on.

Then you're incredibly lucky and that's where it would have zoomed in to for anyone else in that city.
Because I can guarantee I don't live where my IP says I do.

You just got lucky.
When you blow something up, and the rubble happens to land in the perfect position for you to get to where you need to be.
(See Left 4 Dead 1 Blood Harvest campaign when you blow up the bridge to get up to the saferoom.)
Didn't you read? I trust BIS, I don't trust you.
The Russian Federation's main service rifle is the AK-74M, a modernized version of the venerable AK-74. The AK-100 series were primarily built for export, not for use among their general forces.
Ok. You're just repeating yourself, and I'm going to avoid doing just that now.
Not the slightest bit surprised that most of the complaints have to do with weapons.
I hate it when you have to follow a slow-moving npc and their walking speed is slower than yours.
the vehicles in halo: slow, weak, obviously not advanced
Ok. You're just repeating yourself, and I'm going to avoid doing just that now.
This is actually the first time I've mentioned the AK-74, so you must have the wrong address.
Fucking Ammo sharing between weapons.
Did you know in MW2, the M4, the M16, The TAR-21, the FAMAS F1, the ACR, the FN F2000, the Steyr AUG HBAR, The L86, and The MG4 all take the same bullet? Half of them can even interchange magazines! But not in MW2, even If you need M16 Ammo and you find a scoped M16 and yours isn't scoped you cant take the ammo. Also on the other side of this there are games that have universal or almost universal *cough borderlands cough* ammunition, like all the Sniper rifles in existance take the same ammo in the smae magazine.
Borderlands is game play. Do you want to carry around ammo for 6 million different guns? No?
the vehicles in halo: slow, weak, obviously not advanced
Warthog isn't that slow. And those speeder things (forget their names) are pretty damn fast.
[editline]03:45AM[/editline]
Borderlands is game play. Do you want to carry around ammo for 6 million different guns? No?
.... 20$ says if any of those guns in borderlands WERE real, they would more then likely use shared ammunition.
This is just something I hate about games in general. When the fanbase whines and bitches about wanting a game to be totally realistic and then they bitch and whine some more when shotguns shoot farther than 10 feet.
