What misconceptions and mistakes (scientific, etc) really bother you in games?

Do you weigh like 500 pounds or what
I can run 200 meters without getting out of breath and I'm a fatass. If these trained spec-ops soldiers can't sprint 10 meters then there is something wrong.

You're not carrying a gun, ammunition and all your equipment you need to set up camp and eat for a month.
Average soldier carries around 60 pounds of gear. Its not that much. I've sprinted a 100 meter dash with a 80 pound weight vest on.

Sure you have Priscilla.
I've carried a RAF Regiment pack.
Holy shit I fell over backwards.
22 year old friend almost collapsed.

misaligned sights in insurgency and the horrible reload whicch reloads one extra round on the enfield rifle.
Also PSO-1 scopes not having correct zoom, making the rangefinder useless. Same with mil-dot scopes.

You know that the reload thing is not a bug right?
[editline]08:59PM[/editline]
It's correct in how it does things.
Professional, feared and world reknowned Hitmen have a tendency to kill everyone in a square kilometer radius on their way to assassinating their targets.
Way to small grenades.
Fuck you DOD:S!
Can someone produce a fucking game that isn't blankly simplifying humanities emotions and attitudes regarding war down to a level for caffeine-hopped twelve-year-olds.
This is going to sound clichéd. But try Arma 2, it has a fairly good representation of war with no conspiracy bullshit hanging over your head.
You would seriously enjoy a limited amount of ammo on a minigun?

Why not? It's not like you would run out in like 5 seconds. It would just keep you from being a whore.
Guns from World War 1 & 2 being more powerful then modern guns.
Well, that's because alot of them WERE... Alot of the guns used much larger rounds.
wouldn't say its scientific, but when someone can run around firing a barrat, you'd break your arm |:
I seem to remember reading somewhere that courtesy of the red cross, the classic red cross put on health packs is now illegal, possibly why halo switched healing methods and alot of games have regen health.
They could always switch to a green cross.
Or when you are unscoped and the sniper rifles bullet exits the barrel at a 75 degree angle 90% of the time because "the gun would be over powered if it didn't"
Ah good ol' counter strike... Where if you walk an inch with the AWP and fire it, the bullet will almost go to the side instead of anywhere you are actually aiming...
when i shoot someone with body armor with a Barret and he doesn't get ripped in half,or even killed
the Barret can pierce tanks, but not body armor?
and besides,i heard the Barret cannot be used against infantry according to the Geneva Convention...
Akimbo weapons, you would never really dual wield in real life.

Especially some shotguns too. You'd shatter your wrists the second you shot them. You'd get knocked on your ass too.

What the fuck are you drinking? Guns Jam now and then

but not after 2 minutes of use, especially when the gun is new

I think the AK blew up in your face after 6 or so clips in FC2 :v:
Sure you have Priscilla.
I run track. I'm not a basement dweller like you are.
Melee having ridiculously high damage.
This is there for balance reasons.
Why have melee when a gun deals more damage? If you're able to get right up into the face of a guy who has a gun, I'd say you deserve an instakill.
My gripes are with things that have already been mentioned, bullet casings coming out the wrong side, not being able to reload Garands, really short sprinting distances (I am fat and I can sprint longer than people in video games), etc.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned infinite or really weird storage space yet. Like in WoW, a dagger takes the same amount of space in your backpack as a battle axe which takes the same space as 20 pumpkins. And in some RPGs, you can carry an infinite amount of junk.
Not sure if this one has been mentioned, but :wtc: is with regenerating health?
All of a sudden every fps (excluding the hardest of hardcore) has some sort of health regen.
Apparently I can now survive grenade blasts without even needing medical attention because I am the terminator.
(the non-arnie ones)
Sadly that's one of those things that has to be in games.
A realistic game like Operation Flashpoint and Armed Assault didn't have it, but then again in both games you can die from one shot.
While some people find it fun, most gamers find it incredibly frustrating. (Hell, i've wanted to break my keyboard since every enemy soldier in AA has been trained by the Navy SEALs sniper school to pick off a human sized target a mile away...with an AK.)
It's the only way to make a game level longer than the 5 minutes a battle could otherwise be.
Although i do prefer games that find a reasonable way to do it.
Like a "super suit" or something like that.

It can't pierce tank armor.
It can affect lightly armored vehicles.
Also, as far as i know it's still fair game for soldiers.
The Marines use it to get to guys hiding behind walls and in buildings, or behind other types of "soft" cover.
You haven't actually played Arma have you? Accuracy is shit, and keeping to cover and repositioning can make battles pretty intense, fair and drawn out. The thing that sucks is arcade games with perfect accuracy and useless cover that try the one shot one kill bullshit. BC2 Hardcore I'm looking at you.
Heck just sprinting in Arma will make you pretty much impossible to hit. At least in close quarters anyway.

I would normally agree with this, but getting face to face with an enemy is easier than most people think. All it boils down to is who has the quickest reaction time.
I run track. I'm not a basement dweller like you are.
Uh. Not many track teams make you run with kevlar vests.
Unless you run track for the military academy.
Which, is highly unlikely.
car exploding when you shoot at the window
Anything having to do with cars exploding.
Im surprised that no one ever mentioned that most of the time the doppler effect is seriously mangled, i don't know if its because i choose to play with headpholnes or because i know a little too much about audio/video from a dad that worked in TV editing, but i distincly remember that you DO NOT have ears in the back of your neck. at best the loudest should be at your side where your ears are, not behind you.
i dunno if im just being naggy or nitpicky, but it freaks me out when i'm playing oblivion and i turn to leave only for the quest-giver to magically aquire a megaphone when i turn my back, agree or disagree, whatever, try it and see.
