What misconceptions and mistakes (scientific, etc) really bother you in games?

Apparently every modern game that has anything to do with nukes is a recreation of Dr. Strangelove.
sniper rifles being referred to as snipers
People carrying a dozen big guns, a rocket launcher, and a literal truckload of ammunition without slowing down, let alone being crushed under its weight.

Yep, that pretty much sums me up.
As obvious as it is, I'm probably late, but I don't want to read the entire thread. One that's that's extremely unrealistic is getting shot. A single bullet could easily take you out of the fight or kill you. It doesn't take a full clip to the head to kill someone in real life.
On the other hand, video games would practically be unplayable like that.
Stealth games: Sneak past the first or second guard and then kill the shit out of everything when you get spotted.

What's wrong with that?

How is that a mistake/misconception?

You're a poorly armored guy, and you have to rely on stealth because a head on fight would be too much... but it isn't.

Apparently the people who sent you in misunderestimated your strength/ability.
But I get your point, hadn't seen that thought.
Why even bother with stealth if you can just play it like an action game.
Sayings snipers is just slang.

Try Red Orchestra. You'd have to be the luckiest person in the world to still be moving after taking 2 bullets.
AI with super vision(sniper ghost warrior)
Weapons that use different magazine types but same ammo caliber being able to share ammo.
Having the ability to keep an enemy ragdoll in the air by propelling it upwards with bullets, in Just Cause 2.
Seriously.
What the fuck. You can keep someone from dieing by fall damage, by easing thier fall with low-damage pistol bullets.
Sliding on a hill makes you immune to falling damage in a lot of games.

Remember this is the same game where propelling yourself toward the ground faster than you'd fall negates fall damage.
JC2 is not supposed to be realistic.

I don't see the problem with this. you can take ammo out of one mag and put it into another...
when games pull the bolt to put a round in the chamber, when you are reloading mid magazine so you dont actually need to. or when they never pull the bolt at all when the magazine was empty.
Hey did you fagtards forget the last page already?
A great example of the difference between clips and magazines:

This is a misconception.

This is not. It's an intended part of the game.
Probably a fast-paced lightning speed run fragfest. Or Half-Life.
When a fire team or squad are regarded to as a platoon.

Same. I'm like: Kill that guy but only use two bullets? Reload. Use about 7 rounds to kill that mutant? Reload. Kill that guy, and even though there are five other's behind him ready to fuck my shit up? Reload.
I hate the fact that you can break a wooden box with 3 swings of the crowbar in Half-Life/2-Episode 1/2.
I hate how fast and stupidly people reload in most games. No one can instantly pop the clip out, and have a new one already in their hand and get it into the chamber in one smooth movement every single time!
I hate damage systems in most games. A pistol shot to the skull will kill you, a shot to the chest will incapacitate you. But 5 shots in the foot, in GMod, will kill a citizen. But one headshot will not.
The vehicles in Half-Life 2 aren't very well designed.
In GMod / Half-Life 2: Deathmatch you hold the pistol with one hand in first person mode, but everyone sees you holding it with two hands.

Except your example isn't a misconception, it's just slang.
Running slightly faster than npcs, and when you walk, they outrun you.
It's made on purpose and it's the perfect formula. Valve devs explained that in EP1 commentary.

It is when a game has different weapon classes, "Assault rifles", "Submachine guns", and then "Snipers"
Might as well call assault rifles machine guns

All games need to be realistic :downs:

Funny since everyone I know complains about it. Why not have them have the same walking speed as you? You can run ahead of them, then walk in front of them for the rest of time. If they catch up (due to more efficient patching / you getting stuck in corners), just run ahead again.
