What misconceptions and mistakes (scientific, etc) really bother you in games?
Think Star Wars, without sound. Without huge, dramatic explosions. Without space vehicles flying around at hundreds of KM per hour with the ability to turn on a dime, covering vast distances in seconds, all of which lacking the ability to warp to "light speed". No lightsabers, no planet-sized space stations... so yeah, to answer your question, it would suck.
Galactica was interesting enough although they tried a more realistic approach.
So no.
Then how fun would a game be if all shots where insta kills?
have you played quake
its fucking fun
Any kind of inaccuracy in biology, specifically evolution.
Characters never need to use the restroom. This also happens in movies.
The bigger the handgun, the more useful it is in any situation.
If that were the case, every army would be equipped with revolvers and deagles.

Having to take a shit every few hours or so in game wouldn't be very fun.
Tell that to everyone who's ever played the Sims or Indigo Prophecy.

And they don't have to have it in game, they can cram it into cutscenes or anywhere else.
EMPs. One goes off in a game and there are lights and radios still working.
Modern Warfare 2 did it will in single player but its totally stupid in multi player.
One girl in a tanktop defeating 10 policeman with pistols and sub machine guns.
You got shot? Just wait for 6 seconds.
You have an energy shield! Oh shit it's down, now you die from one hit, disregead the metal power armor you have.

Fucking Ammo sharing between weapons.
Did you know in MW2, the M4, the M16, The TAR-21, the FAMAS F1, the ACR, the FN F2000, the Steyr AUG HBAR, The L86, and The MG4 all take the same bullet? Half of them can even interchange magazines! But not in MW2, even If you need M16 Ammo and you find a scoped M16 and yours isn't scoped you cant take the ammo.
wrong, and in cod4 (at least) at least the m16/m4/g36 shared the same ammo
Actually that's right. You see there's a rifle cartridge known as the 5.56mm x 45 NATO round which, as the name says is standard for most NATO rifles and rifles belonging to the armed forces of NATO countries. Now lets think:
M4, M16, and ACR are all American weapons and take 5.56 NATO in STANAG magazines
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STANAG_magazine
The French FAMAS F1 uses 5.56 NATO in STANAG magazines, because it is part of NATO
Although not part of NATO, the Israeli IMI TAR-21 uses 5.56 in STANAG
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TAR-21
The F2000, manufacture by Fabrique Nationale in Belgium uses 5.56 in STANAG magazines as it is part of NATO
The British L86, a suport variant of the L85, uses 5.56 NATO because It is a NATO member
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L85
As does the Austrian Steyr AUG "HBAR" and the German MG4 manufactured by Heckler and Koch, makers of the famous MP5 and G3 families, because Austria and Germany are both part of NATO.
I will now apologize for getting off topic, I will now contribute by saying I hate how all video game shotguns have a horrible range with the exception of Bad Company 2
I agree how certain misconceptions are crucial for balanced gameplay, but I still would like realism where it doesn't really affect it. Like realistic reloads, or sound, or stuff like that. It just appeals to me, and in my opinion makes it seem more immerse.

During loading screens. You just hear the piss pouring into the water in the toilet. Occasionally you here some grunting followed by a loud splash. :v:
Games where you can only carry two weapons at a time.
Fuck you "realistic" games

That isn't a mistake...
Bad reading for you.
Normally, your gun doesn't move that much, only very slightly for breathing. Then, as soon as you look through your scope, you somehow managed to become drunk, deprived of oxygen and are also sitting on a bucking bull machine while trying to snipe. The only way to stop from puking on the floor for several different reasons is to hold your breath(?) and suddenly you can fucking shoot straight.

It's a mistake, since games are supposed to be fun, and not being able to carry every awesome weapon ever is not fun. Therefore, they defeat the purpose of games.

I understand a small amount of movement because of how the human body works but jerking around like a drunk is too much.

i.e. I don't have fun with realism, therefore no one can.

I'm talking about the glorious master anti-tank contraption of ches high picket fences :3

Halo, L4D and Alien Swarm would like to have a word with you.
The WA2000 has a flash suppressor, not a sound suppressor.
So MW2 is not inaccurate in that regard.
Oh, wasn't aware it wasn't a sound suppressor, but either way the WA2000 without the silencer attachment has muzzleflash.
What were you referring to then?
I really don't like it when games have an extremely limited sprint, most of the time you're a trained soldier... not yourself!
There's nothing dumb about what I typed about the Desert Eagle. What I typed is the truth.
Also, Bungie made a mistake with the shields in the Halo games. Head shots do more damage the body shots, but that doesn't make any sense when you have energy shields. Why would your shields be weaker around the head area?

Because of gameplay reasons
it's more rewarding when you actually have to aim
having the garand not able to reload mid clip
I know this as probably already been talked to death that you can reload in the middle of a clip, but a quick history lesson.
Since the M1 would give off that ping sound after it fires all 8 rounds, German soldiers used the sound to tell when the US soldier was reloaded and they would take advantage and mostly get the US soldier while they would be reloading. Sometime they would only fire 7 of the 8 rounds in each load so that the German soldier couldn't tell when they were reloading. It also had an advanage when there was 2 US soldiers, one would fire all rounds, the German would hear the ping and move up on the soldier reloading, and then the other US soldier would start to fire at the German after they left their cover and were in no cover.
In MW2 the M4A1 is apparantly an M4 Carbine, this doesnt bother me but a friend keeps telling me it and I couldnt give a shit.
No it's not, the M4 Carbine is 3-round burst, however, the M4A1 is fully-auto.
:science:

informative'd
The size of the bullet that comes out of a gun in games where there is slow motion. They are usually the size of the casing. It pisses me off more in games that are meant to be realistic.

speaking of which:

the second canon on this gun is a grenade launcher
and the grenade is 3 times larger than the cannon
and you never seem to put the new ones in the gun
IMO,the worst misconception Valve ever did for HL2

Or it has the casing attached to it.
