When i bought counter strike source from stores, i had to install steam. It was about 2004-2006(?)
When Half-life 2 came out but i didn't know hl2 came with hl2 dm and css so i didn't know about steam until half a year after when i was cleaning my pc.
I saw someone I'm subscribed to on youtube having something called "my steam acoount name... so I googled it... later on, the same person favourited Meet the spy, and that's when I found TF2 and started my business with steam
I googled about counter strike which I knew very little of and found the steam page in 07.
Got it with Team Fortress 2 (and later Orange Box)
Same here Except I heard about Steam before that, I forgot how I found out...
Counter-Strike 1.6
A guy at school who liked CS:S told me about it
It downloaded when I bought The Orange Box in a store. Last time I've ever bought a PC game as physical media.
I heard about steam when I was reading a twitter post about the game Team Fortress 2 and was stupid enough to download the dedicated server pack thinking I was going to get it. Oh boy I was dumb. So how did you find out about it?
Back when they offered select CS 1.5 players (one being me) to beta test the first version of it. Man was it a piece of crap. But seeing a new version of Counter-Strike with improved graphics and the famas/galil was just nuts! This was YEARS ago. I think 2002 was when the beta was out. R.I.P WAN! By the way, WAN is how us old kids used to play valves games online! :D
I got it when I bought the original counterstrike. It wasn't a digital distribution service quite yet then. It just gave you updates for valve's games. I got HL2, left steam alone for a while, and one day I went to play HL2 again and discovered the store tab. I thought to myself "Well, this is knew."
When I bought the Orange Box. :v:

When I heard about CSS
It came with my half-life.
I got Portal and was like "What the fuck is this shit, I don't want to download anything! I jsut want to play my game!" It was worth it.
to get HL2 and CS:S, after i cba to buy Condition Zero, and CS was getting a bit boring in the lead up to CS:S so i was sorta forced to get Steam
I first saw it by my dad, when he was playing Half-Life 2 in 2004. I got it myself 2007
I first saw it by my dad, when he was playing Half-Life 2 in 2004. I got it myself 2007
You're dad plays Half-Life? I like your dad. My dad just sits in front of the tv all day and plays MW2 all day, he's such a noob haha.
I got it when my friend torrented hl2, and I wanted to actually play the game without disappearing models.
My dad bought an ATI card that came with a promo for HL2 and my dad made me a Steam account since he knew I was into gaming and he wasn't.
A friend of mine showed me his steam profile
It was always a digital distribution service. From my knowledge i was always able to download CS and TFC. (first games put on the platform)
Well ya, but it was later on that non-valve games were added. That's when steam became a big deal.

My dad is such a bore.
My friend used to play Counter Strike and I eventually got Steam for that.
My big brother had it.
I was in a LAN CS1.6 clan, and while looking for stuff for my server I found GMod, got amazed, and got the CSS pack and GMod.
First got steam (had to get it) when Half-Life 2 came out...
This
Found it in 2004 when I searched up "steam" in google images.
