I like how people who registered this year go "Oh, the L4D2 demo needed it" Meaning they can't have had Steam or very long...
Got it when they introduced it with CS 1.6. Either get it or don't play. Didn't like it at first but I love it today.
A friend showed me Counter-Strike 1.6 back in 2004-2005.
I had to install Steam to play it.
I downloaded it when I bought CS Anthology.
Played Counter Strike: Source
When i installed Counter-strike:source for the first time back in '08, i noticed that you needed a Steam account and i thought meh. I installed it and came across the store and the community.
And now i'm here.
Pretty much this.
Played Portal: The Flash Version, discovered Portal, then I discovered Steam.
And here I am
Like a month before Half-Life 2 came out I went to a computer Cafe by my house. First time I discovered Counter-Strike and Steam :slick:
I had never heard of steam before, but i heard of Garry's Mod and I wanted to install it, it said to download steam so I did.
Someone mentioned Audiosurf on a forum and I installed Steam to pre-order it. Bought the Orange Box a bit later.
borrowed counter strike source from a friend, and realized that he didn't have the key code, so when i installed steam, i decided to keep it and buy my own copy.
Orange Box.
I tried "downloading" CS:S before there were really big arcade type shooters. I ended up downloading Steam instead :geno:
I've heard that half-life 2 was a good game, the most complete collection was orange box, and portal looked really cool. Didnt really care for tf2 at the time though.
When i got home i was all like what does it mean steam user agreement?
Since then i have preferred the way steam does what cds dont.
Friend was playing Half Life 2 at his house, I thought it was an awesome game, so I borrowed it and his Steam account details. Didn't actually buy a game through it until CSS about 2 years later.
Bought retail HL2 when it wirst first released for my dad. Later expanded with games and then moved onto my own account. Sister eventually took over my dads so I bought him the complete valve pack and gave him a new acc.
i think i bough ep1 or i stole a css game or something
When the steam beta was up for Counter-Strike.
I discovered steam with the "help" of a friend, i was getting mad while waiting for the Orange Box to come.( fuckin italian videogames store and FUCKIN GAMESTOP ) Then my friend told me "scusa, compralo da steam no?" (buy it from steam). Alleluia :D
I've bought then HL2DM (1€ lol) and with the adds of the 50% discount i discovered my love....Gmod... <3 Then a friend gifted me CS:S. w00t
Finally bought HL2 about 5 years ago after much anticipation and a decision between getting the console version or the pc version.
The right decision was made and steam was installed.
Then the console was discovered and a golden age of fun was had.
Then whilst searching for more interesting console commands, a gmod video was found and the rest is history.
I installed Half-Life 2.
Half-Life 1.
Friend told me about Counter Strike
Installed Portal
I heard about it when I was forced to use it in order to keep playing the original Half-Life online v:v:v
Well, you could try vaporizing water, that's what I did.
snap!
Ex-Best Bud showed me Half Life 2 in a Computer Gaming Store. (Store were you play on computer for a certain amount of time) And I loved the graphics so much because I was usually playing shadow man on the Nintendo 64 (God I love that Game).
