I registered in mid-07 and I have almost 10,000 posts. Most of Facepunch has a general idea of who I am and that I've always tried to do the right thing. Should I be prohibited from most private servers because of my 2007 join date?

If they feel you should, yes. It's not up to us to decide because it's not our server. Go join a public one or get your own private server with your own rules.
You know, If you see a server like that you might aswell just ignore it because they are probably not the kind you'd want to play with and you are most likely not going to change their opinion either.

I'd just be playing with a bunch of fools that think that the date you registered and the time you've spent on another, completely unrelated internet forum means jack shit as to your personality.

Its his server, his rules. If someone made a gold members server would you baww about it? If he's hosting he makes the rules, retarded or not.
How can a person hosting a server discern between a griefer and a good player, without allowing them onto the server first? Join date or post count, when the players come from FP. Being here now means you have a good idea about how to behave in online games and on servers, so it only makes sense that by using the join date as a qualifier, newer members will be [U]less[/U] able to understand server rules, compared to an 05er or 06er.
Sure there are anomalies, but alot of 09ers and 10ers are going to servers to grief. You guys set up your servers when you can and make your rules then, you'll soon know how fucking annoying it is when people give out your IP and a griefer crashes it or destroys everyting you've been building.
