Ah right. Tried it, makes it really difficult to get into your cart, though I suppose Notch thought of it as a way to move minecarts with chests, not with players. Perhaps he'll develop them more to make player transport easier via railroads.

You can't animate the water. I just tried. At first i made an animated water thing, Put it in, And then when i went ingame i saw that it didn't animate. So i went back again, And drew a number of different sized black dots on the water, They don't animate.

Get persister. Start it, Join the server. Get the save for the server (In appdata/roaming/.minecraft) and edit the save file. It's pretty straight forward. I mean the save file layout.
