I have best private server for life.
Been wanting to buy it for a while, and I finally did a few minutes ago.
I'll be completely new to the game, oh boy.

I'm getting bored of my current home location so I want to move out and explore and find new and more interesting land.. but I have so much valuable or otherwise necessary things spread across about 6 chests as well as my really nice house and a nice little peer and such.
Not really sure how to travel with all my stuff because I want to go faaaaaaaaaar away (which unfortunately also means if I die I'll spawn miles away) so walking back and forth for all my shit isn't going to be ideal.
I'll turn all my smelted irons and diamond and gold in blocks and such to lighten that load and I can always get more wood but watch below to see all the other good stuff I want to transport to a new land

Garry is purging the boards so that will happen sometimes. Just keep refreshing and it will come back up.

I have the IP saved in notepad, it's worked fine before. I just get kicked for no good reason. I haven't done anything wrong.

It's not this thread, it's all of Facepunch. Garry has been having host issues, then server issues, then host issues again lately and it's kind of bugging him. So, he's getting rid of a lot of old shit apparently.

So, I was digging on singleplayer when I suddenly destroyed a block that I had apparently placed to cover a hole in the ground. I fell in the hole, hit the ground and died. I respawn, and head back to my home to craft a diamond pickaxe and head back down there. When I get to the end of the hole, nothing is there.
I lost my diamond sword, axe, pickaxe, and hoe, 64 papyrus and glass, 42 mossy cobblestone, many books, a lot of wood and torches. I'm pretty pissed right now.

I made a huge chamber with one of those pig spawners and it dropped pig into a huge tub of water and trapped it so I could brutally murder them whenever I felt like it

I think this is one of the only times I've 100% agreed with you. Turned out to be shitty and due to all of this, i lost any and all interest in playing SMP in a total of about 2 days...I haven't even touched minecraft since then.

Still accepting people for my private server town. We have a good mine and are starting the town.
If Notch adds a built in black/whitelist and the option to password protect servers it should calm down a bit.
Plus anyone in the right mind would only invite trusted players or friends unless it's strictly a public server in which it's to be expected that no one will work together.

Either that or he pays for massive MMO-scale servers and ups the player limits to like 250 per world and let people roam free, over time it might settle out a little.
Because the game has so much publicity on forums like this it's hard for people to be immersed say compared to World of Warcraft were now after so long it's established it's grounds and it's players take it very seriously.
Also the fact that the game is still in Alpha, loads more work to do

You can't. The client right now is survival-only. Go to [url=http://www.worldofminecraft.com/]World of Minecraft[/url] if you want a Creative Mode client.
