the server i was on was restarting...but didn't come back up. damnit.
Any servers with the plug-in to spawn working furnaces?

Didn't work out. too many people were spamming stuff and we had to keep restating rules. everyone started using the minecarts which lagged the server to death.

Is it not possible for someone to host a smallisn 6 or 7 man server and only invite a few people from the thread? I really want to try and build something huge but atm theres no servers stable enough

I'd host if i knew how. I don't know how good my internet is but i mean 3 or 4 people on a smallish game on my rig should be fine. 4 GB RAM and a quad core and HD4870

I used it and got the same problem, then I typed in a random IP and the error wasn't there.
So it's something to do with my IP I believe.
