Why would you run with dual katanas? Do you throw one just for fun? :v
Did it for the laughs to be brutally honest :v:
I use dual machine guns so i never have to stop shooting
I usually like to roll with the shotgun and pistol. Shotgun to launch people away and stun them, and the pistol to finish them off. Works surprisingly well.
However, this game needs much more weapons, like an auto shotgun, revolver.ect
Hey dorks.
Avid fan of The Specialists and Soldat. How much will I like this game? Worth the 10, or 20 for deluxe?
worth the $10, not really $20 for how little content there will be in the released game.
I personally wanted the soundtrack etc so for some people it may be worth it.

Deluxe if you want soundtrack and skins, etc.
Otherwise, normal is fine. Also, I loved the specialists and this game is awesome.
At the end, it goes into showdown mode where some badass rock music comes on while everybody fights with no respawn until there's a last man standing.
The last match, during the showdown everyone just whipped out katanas and was just flipping off of walls and being crazy.
Badass.
Decided to install this on my laptop, but it wont start at all.
The small window saying that it's starting but then it just disappears.
This game def needs backdives and slowmo.

I had this problem too, I fixed it by downloading the C++ Runtime Library.
I was invited to the beta today and received 3 extra keys. I've given 2 out already but have a spare:
-gone-
If you grab it post and I'll snip it.
Edit: Also please only take it if you actually plan on playing, I'd rather it not go to waste.

Someone has already grabbed it :c
For those who would like to get in the beta but don't have the money/want to preorder you are assured access if you refer three people. The thing is though you can just sign up other emails of your own since the Steam account field is optional.

Are those sent out in waves? I referred 3 people many months ago and am pretty damn eager to play. :v:

Referring 3 people is supposed to ensure beta access so you should have already received a key. it might be worth checking your spam mail to see if you did receive a key. You should have also received an email (probably back when you referred 3 people) like this:
You have 3 referrals for The Showdown Effect Beta testing and is therefore guaranteed a spot when the invites are being sent out. Please remain patient, and a steam key will be emailed to you once the time is near.
*** Please note that the beta has not yet begun, and that you have not yet received a key is entirely in order! ***

I referred 3 people not long after the first wave of keys was sent out and received my key today so they're probably sent every few days. I suspect they're going to gradually lower the amount of referrals needed to get a key.
I also preordered this game and looking anxiously for its release.
BUT...
The targetting system is pathetic to say the least. Devs mentioned that it's a matter of skill, that keeping the crosshair on your enemy is the only way you can actually hit him with bullets, except the blind rocket, that can kill offscreen.
For a game that got inspired by Soldat and other 2d shooters, they messed up.
Don't get me wrong: I can keep my crosshair on target, but is it skill based, if all you do is keep your mouse leftclick pressed and spam those bullets?
Shotguns should benefit from increased damage at closed range, but they don't, and since you might not hit the target, enjoy that half second of cartridge_ejecting, or switch to katana and block some bullets.
The only things that take skill in this game are:
- timing the melee sweaps right (2-3 katana slices and target is dead)
- reloading gimmick: faster reload time if you press R at the right moment
P.S.
Also I have these two beta keys.

Enjoy!

Awesome, more people to play with.
Updated, they added a new map, new gamemode, new weapon and a new character (plus more cosmetics)
But they removed neo tokyo from the playlist for some reason, which makes me upset

Remember this is only a beta, they probably have quite a few maps made but want to test out specific ones.

To quote the steam store page
4 levels across two different environments
I bought the new character and he doesn't have a special skill, pffff.
I bought the new character and he doesn't have a special skill, pffff.
The new character's special ability is a poison vial that when thrown creates a small poison cloud that hurts anyone who enters it.
Well I restarted the game and the special has appeared, I'll go try it out later I guess.
Sooooo... any other beta keys floating around?
The Showdown Effect: Worst netcode, or the the worstest?
The Showdown Effect: Worst netcode, or the the worstest?
I haven't had the slighted problem with the netcode tbh.

My throwing knives are constantly going right through people and shooting half a second after I fire.
Throwing Knives really do need a nerf.

I'd argue, but I'm rank 1 right now, so maybe there's something to them.
