• Deus Ex 3 Team Didn't Get it at First, Says Director

The city pictures looks like shanghai.
I don't think it will ever be the same without JC
I still say they should've stuck to a more subtle version of the future, since this is a prequel and all that. Mostly because Deus Ex (1) hardly looked like the future at first glance.
The trailer makes this out to be a REALLY action-ey game, I don't like that. I preferred my Dues Ex 1 INSANE DIFFICULTY STEALTH game. Hopyfully when this comes out, this won't be so biased around action.
:sigh: This game is gonna be another console port.
I actually think takedowns are a great move on the developers part. Often in Deus Ex 1, I had issues finding the 'sweet-spot' for taking down enemies with a melee weapon. Note that this was early in the game; as the game progressed, I figured out where the sweet-spot was. With automatic takedowns, new players and veterans alike won't be frustrated by failed manual takedowns. I understand that games have progressed and the developers can work on making hit-detections much better for takedowns but it really is an unnecessary issue to work with. But ultimately, there won't be any issues with players missing the sweet-spot with automatic takedowns. Batman: Arkham Asylum had takedowns and that never felt like a console port. Don't worry about your stealth, it will be there. Low-light environments won't be enough to conceal you from enemies anymore, if that is any comfort to your desire for a difficult stealth game. I sincerely hope we don't have to go down the good guy route. I so wanted to side with UNATCO/MJ12. :smith:
As a die hard fan, I was pretty sceptical to this. Seems like they got some good stuff going on. I'm a bit uncertain on the whole cyber-renaissance look though. I liked the gritty look of the first one. Some of the costumes also remind me of metal gear 2.
The technology, at the time, was holding back the developers of Deus Ex 1.
I know that, but it fits the Deus Ex universe. And they shouldn't have made it a prequel if they don't want to hold true to that.
I never really got into DX 1, but I'm looking very forward to this.
Dugas said that the high cost of game development had created a culture where everything a team built had to be something that the player would actually see, so convincing his team to make things that might be missed entirely was difficult, and that he had to stress that the whole point was letting players explore the game however they wanted and not leading them around by the nose.
I really hope games like DX3 change this notion, both because it allows a much deeper game and a stronger replayability value.
I couldn't help but laugh at the second article's first paragraph "riveting dialogue" oh hoh ho ho ho I hope it's so terribly cheesy this time around as well. My vision is augmented. [editline]09:27AM[/editline]
I guess I'm the only person that hates the shit out of this trailer
nah I hate it too the cinematics are fine but the one thing that gets to me is the simple fact that they have the voice over repeating word for word what's on the screen
Those concept art images are sex.
the cinematics are fine but the one thing that gets to me is the simple fact that they have the voice over repeating word for word what's on the screen
"The year is 2027. It is a time where everyone speaks like Christian Bale" [editline]05:08PM[/editline] [img_thumb]http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc159/eternaltreasure/reinassance.jpg[/img_thumb] That looks awesome. Now I really hope this doesn't turn out to be a dumbed down version of a classic like Bioshock was for System Shock.
I will never be able to get over the fact that the protagonist looks exactly like my science teacher from last year.
Batman: Arkham Asylum had takedowns and that never felt like a console port.
Arkham Asylum is not a first person shooter. Takedowns suck.
I'm fine with takedowns as long as they're not 10 seconds long.
I sincerely hope we don't have to go down the good guy route. I so wanted to side with UNATCO/MJ12. :smith:
The events of Human Revolution will lead to the formation of UNATCO. The developers have stated that Jensen finds himself in the middle of it all, so I assume you can choose whatever paths you want. I don't expect it to be strictly two paths, however.
Actually, the reason why Deus Ex is very present-future is because they wanted to create a connection and not alienate the player as they did in Deus Ex: Invisible War
I did feel very accommodated in Deus Ex 1 and Human Revolution looks similar to it, except they can have a few more nicer effects and whatnot. I say a few more, what I really mean is tonnes of new special effects.
I know that, but it fits the Deus Ex universe.
I will never be able to get over the fact that the protagonist looks exactly like my science teacher from last year.
Sunglasses and trenchcoat, too?!
Arkham Asylum is not a first person shooter. Takedowns suck.
No, it's not an FPS. But your point was that because of the takedowns, it was a "console port".
I'm fine with takedowns as long as they're not 10 seconds long.
They won't be that long but there will be multiple types of takedowns. For example: tapping someone on the shoulder and then punching their lights out, quickly stabbing someone from behind with your hand-blades and more.
No, it's not an FPS. But your point was that because of the takedowns, it was a "console port".
I never said that.
I never said that.
Oops, wrong person.
:sigh: This game is gonna be another console port.
I meant this guy but you had replied to my comments on Arkham.
FFS... Fucking sucks that they're adding Automatic Takedowns... I know it's to give the game a cinematic quality (As if it doesn't already have that), but damn, it basically strips you of most if not ALL freedom or difficulty when facing against an enemy or maybe a group of some enemies... "Herp Derp, I actually have to stop and think how I need shoot this guy, THE GAME IS TOO HARD" If anyone were to say that, my response to them would be to turn down the difficulty setting or go back to playing Casual Genre games...
The game won't force you to use takedowns.
This guy understands what the fans want. Maybe I'm being a little optimistic, but this may be as good as the first.
This guy understands what the fans want. Maybe I'm being a little optimistic, but this may be as good as the first.
Most devs understand what the fans want, a lot of the time they can't give it to them due to high development costs/pressure from publishers. It'll really come down to whether they have enough resources to do it right.

I mean the baton or whatever it was called could knock most enemies out in one hit if you did it right.
Dragon tooth sword and level 3-4 melee attack aug = Kill everything in one hit.
Dragon tooth sword and level 3-4 melee attack aug = Kill everything in one hit.
This is all I did.
I hope I get my mini-crossbow and my baton back! :ohdear: I've always been a non-lethal/stealth player in games when I get the chance to do so, so I really hope the accommodate it as well as they did last time. The only problem I had as a non-lethal player in the last game was [sp]fighting Walton Simons. I only had a baton, a stunstick, a crossbow, a pistol, and some nades. That boss was hell. Normally I would run up and stun him but the goddamned plasma gun makes you blind.[/sp] [editline]02:52AM[/editline]
Dragon tooth sword and level 3-4 melee attack aug = Kill everything in one hit.
I did this and never used lockpicks or keys again.
Looks good so far. Hopefully it's not dumbed down for the console crowd like I think it will be.
Been watching the gameplay and now I watch the trailer, its pretty deceiving. If anything the gameplay is better than they tried to portray it. Barrett (mini gun arm guy) looks nothing like he does in the trailer. He's only slightly taller than Adam. Silly Square Enix. There are some non-lethal weapons but their tight lipped. Their bringing something to gamescom but obviously haven't said what. BTW Sgtnapalm they have a crossbow. I think Dugas said it had the tranquilizer bolts again but their cutting melee weapons, probably because you can do non-lethal take-downs with augmentations. I understand why they cut them but I still would've liked melee weapons.
I hope not... I just automatically assumed because in all games where you have stuff like that, most of the time it isn't optional. If all of the conditions are met, the game would have it happen automatically...
The takedowns are optional but like I said, lack of melee weapons means you'll end up using them. No idea if they'll let you just punch people in the face or not but I do worry about how their gonna treat melee. They said 20 weapons on the steam page so christ knows what they've got.
Am I going to be able to upgrade my character to have a gun in his head? Because it took too long to draw my gun and shoot the bad guys in Deus Ex, and by the time I did, I already took a lot of damage, so I was thinking if I could get a gun in my head so I can kill enemies just by thinking about it.
No, I believe there won't be any skulguns
