It doesn't have the launcher which apparently allows for easy installation, they may or may not add the launcher to the Steam version, nobody knows.
You can still do it, it's just harder to manage.

Is that boost included with the recent hotfix? I'm using the latest patch and hotfix, and i'm going horribly slowly as Germany during my Barbarossa.
There's a small speed boost with the hotfix, but the LUA file is a much bigger one. Problem is the game slows down in big wars anyway, Barbarossa in particular is a big resource hog.

In my game as Yugoslavia in HoI2 I annexed Albania, Hungary, and Bulgaria. After a Italy declared war on me I had a decent campaign into Northern Italy. They surrendered Venice to me >:). I'm also aligned with Germany who declared war on Italy. But for some reason Germany never annexed Austria or Czechoslovakia, not even claiming the Sudetenland.

Howevery Yugoslavia does have one problem. Our slavs are strong but there are only so many slavs in the world. We must make more slavs! My best researchers will be assigned to making more people into slavs. Take away job, pour dung on them, hey presto.
Around a year of peace goes by, and Yugoslavia becomes even more glorious! Our research is so good, they tell me they can almost time travel now. Many more slavs are made as well, at last count we have 3 billion slavs.
