I also played this game as the Netherlands for awhile. Converted them to the nazi empire, trying to escape that blitzkrieg fate the small country always had.
Now it get's pwnt by the allied on both homeground and colonies. Dutch truely have the worse locations for a country. :<

I conquered the shit out of those god damn Slavs as Hungary surprisingly. Hungary sucks a big shit in HOI2, it's either that or I don't know how to play Hungary.

Does the game have a tutorial of some sort, or something to help someone who hasn't played HOI 2 in it? I think I'm gonna buy the game.

The tutorial isn't very good, but you do get taught by Hitler, so that is a plus. I'd reccomend doing the tutorial to learn what you can, then play as someone easy like Russia to learn the ropes. And if you need additional help just ask here.
Cheating can be really fun, I'm playing as Ireland and its only 1939 and all of the coasts have Level 10 Coastal Defences and AA, and the English section is borded by level 10 Land Forts, but what sucks is that because im in the Axis, England put all 30+ of her motorized and mechanized infantry in the tiny little section of land they own. It's pretty stupid how they can cross over from England to Ireland without transport ships. But, now Britains mainland is completely unprotected and is very vulnerable to the upcoming Operation Sealion.

Thanks. It doesn' look too difiuclt once I have the gist of it, but if I didn't know what to do, I would look at the UI and loose all hope.

Right now HoI 2 is better. There is way too much wrong with HoI 3 at the moment, even the little things stack up.
Give it 6 months, perhaps even till the first expansion and HoI 3 will be incredible and blow HoI 2 out of the water.
Works for me, I'll just play my total war games for now.
I have HoI II, but not this one. What are the main differences?

It's very, very different. Lots of things are better, lots of things are broken though.
And if you're map textures fuck up, you're in turn fucked. It took me 7+ fucking hours to generate the textures that were even more broken than before.
