Finally. One of many S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. One of them finally has a 2 in it!!!!!
GSC is a PC company. They're gonna hold PC first before anything. It'll be like Valve and Half-Life 2 on the original Xbox.
Yer, I have to agree with this. [editline]07:45PM[/editline]
I look forward to the "Streamlined for consoles" linear corridor shooter with no depth or anything good from the previous games.
Ah, looks like you'll have to find a game that will actually be like that.
They just stated the new engine will be multiplatform, not the game itself.
They just stated the new engine will be multiplatform, not the game itself.
Didn't they say that they wanted to port the first game to consoles. Maybe they are going to do that but with the new engine.
They just stated the new engine will be multiplatform, not the game itself.
This is just stupid.
I wonder what they'll use their CryENGINE 3 licence then...
This is just stupid.
How?
pft as long as they hold to the first version of stalker no console players will buy it, and I have faith that they're going to keep to the formula, perhaps with some better dialogue and RPG elements, but keeping to the same atmosphere and desperation. I feel bad for the console players, they'll get stuck without mods :v: all I hope for is that they optimize their next engine much better; I'm tired of my system built in 2009 with amazing specs not being able to run STALKER without it being put into dx8 mode. Please, for the love of FUCK code your engine better.
Someone explain to me the stalker games? I'm thinking about buying the first one
buy it buy it buy it buy it buy it buy it. It's absolutely fantastic. You'll hate it for the first hour or so, it's got a horrid learning curve (protip: you tend to start out with shit pistols and shotguns, the pistols don't work for shit long range you have to get up close), but once you get into the swing of things, it's like having a woman who is personally strapped to your dick for the rest of the way. You can't get free, and you don't want to.
I wonder what they'll use their CryENGINE 3 licence then...
That was only a rumour.
Someone explain to me the stalker games? I'm thinking about buying the first one
The first one is harder than Call of Pripyat, just a warning. If you don't care about story I'd go with CoP first since the learning curve isn't as steep. The second one doesn't really exist and we don't talk about it
If they make it for PC and then port it over, it'll be fine. If they do what the majority of other developers do and port it from console to PC, however...
except the majority of console games are built on the pc first
Damnit you guys, I told you not to let GSC bring the Stalker series to console. Like I said before, I'd rather miss out on the game because I have a crappy PC than see it dumbed down for the likes of us console users.
The first one is harder than Call of Pripyat, just a warning. If you don't care about story I'd go with CoP first since the learning curve isn't as steep. Call of pripyat is like 50 times worse.
Clear Sky was okay.
Please have a new/significantly upgraded engine Pleaaaaaaase
The current engine is pretty damn good. All I really want, engine wise, is it to better optimised, if that's possible. Really, I'd be perfectly happy if they just added a few new locations, features, NPCs, weapons etc. and a nice, long, polished storyline. [editline]01:40AM[/editline]
Clear Sky was okay.
Clear Sky was great. I haven't played CoP yet (hopefully getting it in a few weeks, when I get back from holiday) but the first two STALKER games have been fantastic. Definitely two of my top 15 games.
This worries me. the words "Multiplatform" can eman the death of a good series. Also, STALKER 2? No, Clear Sky was STALKER 2. This is STALKER 4, GSC, you silly geese, you!
Technicaly in time line order it's: CS: = 1 SHOC = 2 COP = 3 Thus CS is not a sequel.
-Improved Optimization -Less vanilla bugs -Less enemies that are purely bullet sponges -A storyline that's not easily forgettable -More enemy variety with mutants that actually use stealth (not just ones that use invisibility) -Mod friendly This is what STALKER 2 needs.
i hope this time they'll improve on the reload animations...
For the new engine, they really need to make a single game world that's not separated by level changers. Also, an active economy in the Zone with working supply and demand. Maybe one day Duty is preparing to conduct a mutant raid and then the local store's supply of 5.45mm cartridges is slightly more expensive.
Here's hoping it being ported to consoles will encourage them to polish the damn thing a little more, while hopefully not bottlenecking the development of the inevitably superior PC version.
I just want there to be shorter loading times. I would literally leave the room every time there was a loading screen in SoC.
For the new engine, they really need to make a single game world that's not separated by level changers.
If you played their latest release, Call of Pripyat, you'd see that they DID do that. Well, to a degree, now you don't have to wait for it to load every time you travel 200 yards.

CoP still had the levels separated into three large areas.
At the people saying this will be bad because it will be on consoles;I think that's pretty stupid, it's still the same developer making it so I don't see why it will be any different just because it's on consoles.
Cells like in Fallout 3? (you only load a second when entering a building though)
Someone explain to me the stalker games? I'm thinking about buying the first one
Get artefacts. Fuck mutatns. Lift the elbow. Freedom. Well you could just check the mega thread.
Here's hoping it being ported to consoles will encourage them to polish the damn thing a little more, while hopefully not bottlenecking the development of the inevitably superior PC version.
Go away.
I mean where the ENTIRE game world does not have a single loading screen. CoP still had the levels separated into three large areas.
Well, if they had that large of a single game world, expect heavier PC requirements. I think very large area's connected between single load points works just fine. Also gives developers more reason to make environments and enemies more varied for those different area's.
Go away.
OK, hopefully superior PC version. If PC versions are done well they're always better than the console versions, so I thought 'inevitably' was warranted.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with clear sky that can't be patched or fixed with a mod. Call of pripyat is like 50 times worse.
Are you fucking joking? Call of Pripyat is probably the least buggy of all the games and runs far better then Clear Sky and they improved the weapon/armor customization, the only downside is they took away faction wars and even then it wasn't a big deal because faction wars got fucking annoying, "GO HERE, BANDITS ARE ATTACKING, QUICK, DEFEND THE BASE BANDITS ARE ATTACKING, RETAKE THIS AREA, UH OH, BANDITS ARE ATTACKING". Not to mention even WITH mods that patch the game, faction wars is still buggy as hell. Call of pripyat, IS the best Stalker game so far.
