Are you trying to connect to your own server or join someone else's? Make sure you aren't using the local IP because that doesn't work very well.
This is annoying, every time I've gone to the underwater city or the mines near it, my game crashes. Also, when nerdy switched servers, I lost everything in my inventory (persister)

Actually, it was in a secret blocked off cave HIDDEN under some dirt or gravel, hidden under some dirt or gravel in that secret room. I don't know how they got to it.

Day/night cycle in multiplayer would be nice. An actual server browser would be good too!
I changed my Mario a little bit. I changed out the orange cloth that was his skin for sand. Mario no longer tans with Snooki.

Here's my reason why Nerdy's server is better than most others:
1. A whitelist. We don't need to deal with the IP leaking, which is great.
2. A starter kit - makes people's lives without persister.jar a ton better.
3. It's hosted on a VPS as opposed to someone's home line.
4. It automatically generates cartographer images at every hour starting at 0:30, taking around 20 minutes for each image to generate. [url]http://mineville.net/maps/[/url] contains them all.
5. We don't allow mods to give out items to anyone for any reason, side things that we can confirm, like seeing someone get robbed on the spot.
6. No adminium, anywhere. We don't like anything we can't get rid of in due time.
7. We encourage expansion, other servers will start to lag and die if you go too far out.
8. /sethome & /playerlist
