It depends on the size of the map and your PC specs. I'm guessing for you, without knowing your PC specs, 5 or 6 minutes or around that.

-Located in Chicago IL.
-Buckets and furnaces work here.
-Cannals, and artificial rivers/lakes connect almost everything (spent countless hours making these)
-Server Always up, unless I need to update/fix something.
-I Chronograph the map daily, and back it up every few hours.

my minecraft freezes 3 minutes after connecting to a server, can't play at all
When I include the port # In the I.P. for SMP, It crashes Minecraft.

There is NBTedit, the block id for sponge is 19.
Sponge doesn't do anything in survival though.
