If you don't update the client (don't visit /game/ or get the new exe) then as noted above, "play offline" (skips updating) then "multiplayer" will work, and persister.jar will still work. You should have no problems with existing servers.
If you do update, you can't join outdated servers. You get an "end of stream" error.
Guess which I did. :sigh:
Seems the client works now, It downloaded a lot of files and let me in.
Also, my JAR version of the server doesn't seem to generate any properties file or anything like that, but it loads it stuff from somewhere.
Anyone know where it hides these files? (I used exe before, switched to jar due to admin mods)

Mods as in admin mods and lamas flint and steel mods. The admin mod I need for people who donate because they get kits and teleport and lamas mod keep tnt from blowing up. Plus flint and lava keep fires from setting. So it stops greifers that get in. So I am stopping the server until those are fixed. We spent to much time on this town to see it go up in flames and blow up. I don't want to be like profan's server. No offense.

Not good enough. If I can go into profans and blow up a town without him knowing it then someone can do the same to mine. I would have to have an op to ever person on the server.
