As i was saying You system wouldn't work as in terms or practicality trading iron for gold is idiotic if you are the on getting the gold, Iron can do many things whereas the only thing you can do with gold is make it into a yellow block.

You should be able to craft a gold bar into 10 gold coins which would serve as a currency.
i still like it being the second, as gold is pretty darn expensive in real life.

My server is runing Debaian 5.0 and has 2gb of deticated ram. 4gb of burst. We run on a 7 Mbit unmetered line and are located in Denver Colorodo. We have a backup scrpit that runs every hour and deletes any backups that a 24 hours old.
Also shout out to Valdrone the person who helped me with setting up the server and coded the backup script. Also the website. :h:

It's really nice, there's also this mall which chezhead and a few other people built, including me.It has little stores where you sell stuff, and you can alert other players that your shop is open by clicking on the lever(inside the store) which activates the redstone torch(near the door of the store).
Let's have a nerdy's-server meet up and we can expand the village/make a new one! I'll make an announcement for it once I get in.

trading and bartering is much more fun and generally does the community better.
if I trade you 32 coal for 64 cobblestone.. then that cobblestone can go towards me building a shop or house, and you can make torches with the coal and thus mine more cobblestone, which I can again trade for coal and such.
If I gave you some gold for the 64 cobblestone.. then what can you do with the gold?
It's supply and demand, this is why you need to form a business that has employees that can be paid a share of what they farm or mine or bring back to the shop, so say 3 employees bring back 20 iron ore, you can divide it between everyone working at the shop.. and that gives them insentive to go out and work and use their pay as they please.. but gold can't benefit them in any way if you paid them with that.
Personally I like collecting gold but it's not valuable for anything, I collect it out of hobby really.. whereas there is huge worth in Iron and Diamond (and Coal and Obsidion), Cobblestone has it's worth but it can't be traded for much. I'd say 2-3 iron bars is worth 3-6 stacks of Cobblestone.

Notch said that he liked coins, but not complicated trading with it's own GUI, so I'm not sure how he's going to do it. I think trading is fine how it is now, and doesn't really need to be fixed/changed.
