Games with an over-arching plot like Assassin Creed's are never really at risk like this because they have a defined end in general. Fans will not accept bullshit entries that are nothing more than padding out the story, and when the story ends, fans are usually unwilling to accept a new story in the franchise.

It's not one of the worries I have for this series.

The CoD multiplayer is unoriginal and shit, but IMO the single player is consistently awesome.

1. His accent is American. Unless Rebecca comes up with some kind of Animus patch that gives him the right accent I'm going to be very annoyed.
2. Where's the character at? All we know is that he's an assassin who does shit and then fucks a girl and dies. That's about it. And the codex.
3. All that desert shit just irritates me for some reason. I loved italy, and I don't want to go back to damascus or whatever.

I know Ezio fucks girls, but Altaïr fucking girls in the game/story is new to me. (or I just forgot about it, since so much time has passed since I played AC1)

The accent never really occurred to me. It's a neutral accent IMO.

It happens in AC2 when Desmond ends up living one of Altairs memories without being in the animus. It's when you walk back from the warehouse bit where you enabled the alarms.
