Arma2 has a mod with a normandy map, that also includes part of england on the other side of the water, i think it was 15k kilometers x 15k kilometers
And? A meter is a meter, no matter how big relative to another game it is. So, traveling 10 m in Just Cause 2 is the same as traveling 10 m in Oblivion.
Different walk speeds, Player scale etc affect this too much just to say that..

This
Midwinter's also real big.

Hearts of Iron has a rather large map.

Is that the I44 map? If I remember right, it was terrible.

No, it's the 31st normandy map, heres a overview.

Nice job with the picture.
Toxic
oh yeah and i meant 153km x 153km size map.
Arena is bigger :)
None of those games can hold a candle compared to Noctis; the game world in Noctis is a 90,000 light year wide galaxy with billions of suns with most of them having planetary systems, and most of those systems having explorable (and fairly massive) planets.
Infinity: The Quest for Earth (in development) and Spore come after Noctis in scale; Infinity takes place in the Milky Way, so it's about half as big as the one in Noctis.
But they're all randomly generated, so yeah.
Well, yeah, it's so big because its environment is randomly generated, and conveniently has vast empty space between objects. I think the thread is focussed on land areas that aren't totally randomly generated.
What's that Nightfall game, by the way? It looks pretty ginormous.
This is highly inaccurate, and highly late.
Just Cause 2 is the size of your average Hawaiian island. It is also scaled to real life. Therefore, it is extremely large in comparison to the other games, considering that most of those have a smaller scale.
Burnout Paradise is not to scale
And? A meter is a meter, no matter how big relative to another game it is. So, traveling 10 m in Just Cause 2 is the same as traveling 10 m in Oblivion.
no it isn't
you don't seem to understand how scale works
Infinity: Quest for Earth will make Nightfall a tiny red pixel at 1680X1050, if it were to be compared in that screenshot
Spore. :smug:

Mass Effect has 40 or planets you can land on, each maybe 4-9 square kilometers.

Players in Tribes 2 are 9 meters tall; yet they're just people wearing some body armor with jetpacks. A tank in Tribes 2 is longer than a stretch limousine.
Burnout Paradise is not to scale
Also you travel ridiculously fast
If it were walking speed then it would be massive

What are you measuring this with?
Spore is huge, but randomly generated
Spore is just the same thing copy pasted over and over and over
Infinity: The Quest for Earth will have the largest gameworld ever (Fullscreen is mandatory, your jaw will drop):

*I meant "Millions to billions" not, millions of billions. whoops. And it's radius, not diameter :downs:
The game's targeting laser. When you fire at an object, it shows the range.
Also I do think Infinity's that 90,000 or so lightyears in diameter.
"Infinity: Millions-billion star systems" and "Noctis: Billion"
This still makes Infinity bigger.
90k ly
45k ly
which is the larger distance?

Having more places to visit makes it "bigger", in a sense, does it not? The places to visit are the points of interest, if there are more of them it's simply bigger.

Yeah, sorry I got mixed up between I44 and 31st. That's the one I was talking about. I played it again, it's basically like 90% flat ground and then some villages and hedgerows.
