Burnout Paradise I think is smaller then San Andreas
It's smaller than Los Santos. And it looks like Liberty City is smaller than Los Santos?
The Banjo Tooie world is somewhat big. Not nearly as big as these other worlds though.
Flight Simulator is not a game
yes it is
No its not, its a term I suppose you have not heard before, "simulator"
No its not, its a term I suppose you have not heard before, "simulator"
It's just semantics. You could call shooter games "war simulation" if you'd like. Flightsims are marketed as videogames and released as such to the general public. "Simulation" is a sub-category to games (just not exclusively as there is other simulation software with non-entertainment purposes).
i almost wished the map in far cry 2 was smaller because you have to do so much driving around and it gets boring that was the only thin i didn't like about that game though
i almost wished the map in far cry 2 was smaller because you have to do so much driving around and it gets boring that was the only thin i didn't like about that game though
I wish it had planes and helicopters like FC1. That's make it awesome. OH OH , ALSO TANKS.
Infinity: The Quest for Earth will have the largest gameworld ever (Fullscreen is mandatory, your jaw will drop): View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=P0-lsyo28SU Note what is says: "Every single dot will be a visitable star system in game!"
This is so ridiculously huge and epic i can't await the release of this stuff. I want that. Now. NOW.
When is infinity releasing?
There's over a hundred billion I think. Compare even the most generous star map for Celestia which has like only 3 million. Most of it will be generated, but certain landmarks like Alpha Centauri and possibly Sirius and of course, Helios will be manually added.
What about dirt?
Quote from Minipedia;
Infdev was the fourth released game mode, like its predecessor Indev, it was a survival mode test. Infdev's main new feature was the addition of infinite maps, hence the "inf" in the name. Infdev has now been succeeded by Alpha and is no longer being developed. Infdev works by generating an area of land for the player when they first spawn, then continues to generate more land as the player ventures into unexplored areas. The maps generated by infdev can theoretically be up to eight times larger than the surface of the Earth (though much smaller volume-wise since maps are only about 64 meters deep).

I wish it had planes and helicopters like FC1. That's make it awesome. OH OH , ALSO TANKS.
yeah that would have been awesome
What about Red Dead Redemption? I wonder how big is it.
When is infinity releasing?
They have a PVP prototype to whet your appetite here; http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=88&Itemid=54
What about dirt?
I'm sorry, I don't under stand the question. If you mean DiRT by Codemasters then that doesn't make sense as it's not an open world game, it's set on tracks. [editline]03:07PM[/editline]
And Gabe Newell :fuckyou:
Is Valus, really that small? Seems like he should be much bigger than that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfKQCAxizrA Possibly this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfKQCAxizrA Possibly this.
Holy shit that's amazing. I want to sink an island!
I doubt it. Some sites say 30,000Km², others 100,000Km². Give us a good source on that size.
That's because the game world has changed in size over time. The original was about 30-40k, but it has repeatedly grown. My source is the developers. I am trying to find the link and having a very hard time. If I see it again I'll repost.
Is Valus, really that small? Seems like he should be much bigger than that.
I told you it wasn't completely accurate.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfKQCAxizrA Possibly this.
that looks kinda cool
How is Nightfall that large, isn't it all linear?
How is Nightfall that large, isn't it all linear?
It's not necessarily linear but yes, I think it's unfair to include any Guild Wars map as most of the map is an unplayable graphic.
-snip- late. I should read all of a threads posts before posting.
EVE Online must be pretty damned big. It's millions of lightyears across and whatnot.
Eve Online! Also, Guild Wars is entirely instanced. It shouldn't be counted.
Serious Sam? You can just walk off into the distance for hours until the city you were just in is a mere sparkle on the horizon. And sometimes, there's secrets out there!
The maker of these pictures overlooked a thing because he/she didn't add the fucking comma by the numbers. Daggerfall is 62.394 square miles. The first number is square kilometers. Take that number and convert it. Dumbshit. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Jimbomcb))
Daggerfalls world is twice the size of the united kingdom.
I doubt these maps are true.
What about the original just cause? ):
