Is the story of the first absolutely important to play the second?
The witcher 2 will have a more complicated "choice" tree than the first game. There's something like 5 different endings.
Do you think they'll actually be different endings, or just the same ending with slight variations?
Do you think they'll actually be different endings, or just the same ending with slight variations?
They showed me the progression tree but i forgot if they mentioned if they are completely different. I am pretty sure it will, because they actually put some effort in it and they showed it off as an important feature.
Is the story of the first absolutely important to play the second?
I don't think it's THAT important, it's not that hard to understand the first one and I'm pretty sure you just can read about the story somewhere on the net, but playing it is better. I'm in absolute love with the graphics, characters and landscapes. I'm really excited to play this, and only one month to go. Woo.
Graphics look amazing, sadly on my computer it will probably be on very low. [img_thumb]http://www.kaermorhen.ru/modules/Gallery/Files/screeshots_w2/04-high.jpg[/img_thumb] :flashfap:
Is it just me, or does she look pregnant?
Is it just me, or does she look pregnant?
Actually I thought that too.
I just want to clarify something: Yes you can roam freely. But it's not as open world as Oblivion is. It's sort of corridor-ish-linear-shit like Dragon age but with slightly more space and no loading screens. Watch the GAMESPOT E3 2010 STAGE DEMO. You'll see what i mean.
There's already a Witcher thread that was pretty much only about TW2 anyway, but oh well, more the merrier. Gonna copy paste what I posted in the other thread. Lot of new articles popping up since CDPR sent out some preview copies to various gaming sites, mostly talking about/showing the same thing but I've found each site has a few things others don't, most if not all of the previews are in foreign languages though, Polish mostly, so have to use google translate. http://www.gry-online.pl/S022.asp?ID=7376 - Impressions Article http://polygamia.pl/Polygamia/1,107163,9392428,Wiedzmin_2___relacja_na_zywo_.html - Guy documenting the time it takes to download the game and then his first impressions, bit of a derp really, runs it on medium settings so he can fraps and take screenshots so ends up with poor looking textures, 25fps on average and screenshots that aren't as good as they could be, also runs it on a laptop. But otherwise there are a bunch of screenshots, some videos and some other stuff. Videos from that article: Title screen, as I said he's kind of dumb. Early cutscene from the game. http://www.pcgames.de/The-Witcher-2-Assassins-of-Kings-PC-232263/Specials/The-Witcher-2-Minimale-vs-maximale-Grafik-Settings-PC-Games-mit-ersten-Details-zu-den-Optionen-819544/ - Article comparing Minimum to Maximum settings. Build they have only has 4 graphical options, low to ultra. I believe there's an issue with the build that's been sent out, in that there's hardly any difference between low and ultra settings, it's quite visible that only the quality of the textures and to a much smaller extent the lighting changes. Also Depth of Field turns off on low. So either it's a problem with the build or the graphics of the game may not scale well when the final version is released, likely the former. - 30 minutes of footage from some conference I think, not much new shown, but there are new things shown. - Geralt gets cockblocked by a creepy guard in a highly detailed tent. - Polish dudes talking about an early scene in TW2 as they play it, not seen this footage anywhere else. http://polygamia.pl/Polygamia/1,96455,9404304,Wiedzmin_2___odpowiadamy_na_pytania.html - Q&A with the same guy who did the other Polygamia article. Oh and also there's gonna be another conference on the 14th of April: http://www.rpgcodex.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=57968 http://beta.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/thewitcher2/news.html?sid=6307659&mode=previews - Gamespot's preview, quicktime events D:
Here is a video from The Witcher 2.
He'll be there shortly, when his erection stops growing.
Here is a video from The Witcher 2.
Hah, I was going to say "Oh I've already posted that one." But when I checked to look it'd actually been removed for violating youtube's policy on nudity. :v:
Images I have not seen before. Lol 56k warning.
Already preordered. Loved the first game, and the second looks like it won't disappoint.
Wooooaaahh motion blur. From the looks at the screen it has almost as much motion blur as GTA IV. Which reminds I have to preorder this soon
And just a reminder, the preview build is not running at the highest settings. Also I have no clue why youtube removed that video but leaves this kind of video untouched. I guess the excuse is that it is educational.....
I've been reading the books to prepare myself for this beastly game. Just finished The Last Wish and am currently starting Blood of Elves. Dandelion is so fucking awesome.
The new Dice Poker theme sucks in comparison. :(
Man this game looks like it will be justifying my graphics card update
New footage. First 10 minutes so don't watch it if you don't want that bit spoiled.
The new Dice Poker theme sucks in comparison. :(
Where's the new theme?
Where's the new theme?
It's only ever been heard in a developer playthrough, it's not as cool though, I forget which video had it. Oh yeah. http://www.pcgames.de/The-Witcher-2-Assassins-of-Kings-PC-232263/Tipps/The-Witcher-2-Detail-Vorschau-auf-Charakter-Skills-Training-Schwertkunst-Alchemie-und-Magie-819526/ German site has a summary of all the skills in the skill trees, as well as an explanation as to how Alchemy works.
Looks like its at the point where I stop coming to the tread to avoid even the vaguest spoilers

I'm not sure how I feel about Witcher 2's "modern" typefaces and menu design, I feel like it looks slick but at the same time doesn't really fit the universe at all. But at the same time, almost I do ??? [editline]13th April 2011[/editline] Almost looks like he's starting a campfire in that first screenshot. I wish games actually did stuff like that - made it so theres some kind of survival element that ties you (along with all the other NPC's) to the world. Obviously it shouldn't be super overbearing like it would be in an actual survival game (why aren't there more of those?!), but imagine how awesome it would be to set up camp and stuff in the middle of a majestic forest to sleep the night away, make potions, etc for the adventure in the morning. And for bonus points, having the time of day actually affect the mission in some way. Not having it so sleeping for 2-3 days straight and the game pretends like nothing happened in the world. Obviously still have it so the missions can still be completed, but maybe there's a complication that arises because you waited, or maybe the situation is a little different in the morning hours versus the daytime? It's just to me, one of the big reasons RPG's can feel so "gamey" at times is because you have this ability to wait and dick around, with no reaction or conciquence. The player shouldn't be forced to rush every mission, but making it so there's something that actually happens because a player chose to do that would be great, even if its subtle. Almost like in Deus Ex, how walking into the girls bathroom gets you reprimanded by your boss later on in the game - it feels like the world doesn't revolve around you even if it really does.

Of course, I could go back a week later and the person would still be asking me to do whatever for them even though their problem is clearly way overdue by now. I would honestly appreciate if the game made me manage my time and choose between quests, it would actually give me a reason to replay it as opposed to, "Oh let's do every quest again"

You can cook food by placing it near a fire in the gameworld, character won't eat food raw, you can make potions by crushing down plants with your Pestle and Mortar, placing the powder in a vial and then using it on a distiller, other cool stuff like that. Made me wish there was an entire game made based around surviving off the environment, living like a hunter/scavenger/alchemist. On a side note: http://www.destructoid.com/the-final-preview-the-witcher-2-assassins-of-kings-198746.phtml

Hot damn it looks amazing!
