the m4 is a good gun period...in competitive play the main guns are ak's m4's and awp's. There really isn't much variety (aside from mp5's for half-buys or pistols) unless people are fucking around
Bad things in Counter Strike:
Flash whoring - Prepare to get flashed [b]multiple[/b] times anywhere you go. And prepare to respawn, since you will most likely die.
AWP - There basically isn't a server without some guy with an AWP, and the damn thing kills you in 1 shot 99% of the times with pinpoint accuracy. It's the biggest annoying thing in the game, after flashbangs.
Bad servers/lag/delay - Leads to drugs... OH sorry, wrong lecture. Leads to shitty hit boxes that at 1 cm distance, a shot to the head from the AK does 30 dmg. It's the same as shooting at a ghost.
Community - Full of 1337 fags and kids who think they rock or that say that X or Y is noob to use. Makes me want to punch the fuck out of them.

IMO, I used to love this game. Now, I find it badly done and just very unfriendly for new people. Some guys just look like fucking cyborgs on crack that saw soo much anime that they actually learned how to do the shit in it.

people play those maps like 24/7 and know every trick to them.
Try custom maps that you have to download.
