I hate this trend of so called "beta" its just a marketing strategy..
Longy from these forums actually won a invitation into the Beta from that group, too bad he hasn't been on Steam in over a month. :(
4 player coop ? sounds interesting.
is it standalone ? or i need the original MoW ?
Oops, nevermind, It is standalone.
Oh that's why i was invited! Well i shall accept!
Don't forget to invite YOUR entire friend's list too.
The group has now over 1500 members, that's already a good bunch of people and we hope to see even more very soon! Also, it means that our next round of winners will be announced:
• killerv

Yeah, my PC isn't working and this laptop is so shit I can't even install steam on it.
Oh man, I wanna win so bad.
Don't we all? But once we have 10,000 people in the group, we get 10,000 (if they all stick around) beta testers to play with AND Men of War Assault Squad open beta.
We get more then 10,000 beta testers, we have a lot more because everyone likes free betas.
You maggots can't even make it to 3,000.
come on guys, free stuff goddamnit, invite everyone to this shit.
Looks like DOD, Army men toys thing and battfield 1942 put together.

That makes no sense.

You best be trolling.
I disagree, it's more like ArmA, Starcraft 2 thing and Codename Eagle.
I know if I ever entered this beta, I'd play it once and then forget about it until release.
Ooh, I hadn't seen any recent screenshots of AS. It looks lovely.
Everyone join this. The direction DMS is going with this is a tad different than MoW, in a good way. MoW, unless you set the game up a specific way or play frontlines, turns into "whos super heavy tank can destroy whos super heavy tank from a mile away." Seems MoW:AS is more geared towards infantry and lighter tank combat, more like how WWII was like.
Not to mention the engine update.

That was only if you had the game on max income, full refund, high unit limit and were playing with Russians.

Who always play as Russians
Or Tanks Only Mode - that usually kept the annoying matches seperate

Not really. Happens with 350-400 a lot. Less heavy tanks but they still happen more than they should.
Happens with all the nations except US and UK. I like playing US vs UK for this reason.
With payback is good. Takes a lot more skill, IMO, because you can't buy tanks until 10-15 minutes into the game, and when you loose a tank it really hurts, as you won't have the points for another one of those tanks for quite a while, especially if it's an expensive one. Plus, you're never completely out of the game. Unless you're really getting your ass kicked, you can almost always buy riflemen, or some other cheap unit. The fact that assault squad is going to make tanks cost a shitton is very good, IMO. The most fun games are always the ones where you see a reinforced platoon of infantry, backed up by a mortar, going against a depleted platoon on the other side, but the other side has a light tank or a very well-positioned heavy MG, and eventually someone gets a T-34, let's say, and manages to force through the enemy line.
On an unrelated note, did you guys know that PKPs can kill Hetzers? One of mine just opened fire on a Hetzer from the side and it got a "Hull crushed" with a crewman killed. It was interesting to see.

All of this. I rarely see games with payback on. Sometimes I'll make a game with payback on and half the lobby will complain about me being a noob who can't play...
It's also rather nice that the point cap is 160 in payback games.
Payback seems to be default for MoW:AS. Starting with 160 points, which keeps going up (At end game you can end up with 2000 points). Whereby if you lose your units it gets refunded very slowly. An assault squad costs 25 points, while tanks could cost a few hundreds (300 for the T-34/76). Currently you can only play battle zones, and the default time is set to 90 minutes.
I may be wrong at some points I've taken this information off from TychoCelchuuu's video cast of Men of War Assault Squad.

Heh, TychoCelchuu is great.
The resource system is a mixture of the old no refund and payback, the side with less units on the field receives marginally more resources. Maximum is 3000 points, though you will always receive a small allocation of resources even if you received all your points, though you can't bank more then 3000.
Squad prices varies slightly between nation, but an assault squad costs about 125, regulars costs 150, sub elite 250, elites around 380. T34/76 currently costs about 360.
There's skirmish and a reworked frontlines besides the new assault zones, which is a reworked battle zones.
No matter how badly I want this, this will never get 10000 member. It's just not realistic, Men of War was so un-mainstream that most people didn't even know it existed.
Same deal here :v:
We can still hope can't we?

Oh, do you have it then? Can I ask a question? Does everything the German's have access to cost significantly more than the other nation's units? One of the things that made Germany a bit OP in the original game was how fast they could buy their great tanks, like the Kingtiger, which even the IS-3 can't really counter.
