I have a terrible fear of heights. When the guy in the video was thrown out of the window, I nearly shat my pants. And when the roses failed, they were shat. This looks pretty good, at least to me it does. I loved the original, and i'm eager to see the mandatory Bioshock 1/2 references.
So this is what? A third bioshock? Damn it, I didn't even play the second one.
Why are there so many complaining about the fucking name. What exactly in the word Bioshock is related to water, rapture, and Andrew Ryan. Bioshock just means there will be biological modifications.
This appears to be about modification, but mechanical modification. So, it should be called something like MechShock
I don't know, the rose-levitate kind of plasmid seemed like a bio-mod. She had nothing on her hands.
This appears to be about modification, but mechanical modification. So, it should be called something like MechShock
Except that sounds retarded.
I said something like. [editline]10:32AM[/editline] I said something like. I just think it would be hard to get something like ADAM in the air.
why are people still saying this game looks steampunk it doesn't look like steampunk at all [editline]05:19AM[/editline] Also, everyone complaining about the game needs to read this. [editline]05:21AM[/editline] In particular:
Columbia is not an unknown secret city at the bottom of the sea. It’s a creation of an America transforming from a regional agrarian collection of states into a world power with global reach.

This world of Columbia presents radical differences in scale from what you are used to. You’re not crawling through corridors on the ocean floor, claustrophobic with the weight of the ocean bearing down on you. Instead you find yourself navigating through huge environments, zipping around on Sky-Lines at eighty miles per hour and getting into firefights at ranges of two thousand yards.
Stop complaining about the setting being different, they already know it's different, and they did that on purpose, shut the hell up.
Bioshock infinite should be called Airshock since the game takes place in the air. Man what were they thinking? Bioshock was cool underwater, not the in the air
Sky-oshock. EDIT: Yes, I make bad jokes.
There is still nothing that will beat the Bioshock trailer After I saw that trailer I was just caught. I pretty much had to buy the game after I saw that :v:
They better make falling out of the sky interesting. Because I'm probably going to be doing it a lot.
This thread has a pretty shitty discussion going on, with neither sides going to change, but I'll write it down anyway: No, Bioshock wasn't a horror game, and assuming it won't scare you because of one teaser and three screens is pretty dumb. Yes, It should still be called Bioshock if there are any kind plasmids or whatnot, and we can assume there are, seeing as how they've said there's a much bigger development tree for the player. The new setting might be silly, but is needed, and just give them some time to show us how it would work. In one interview, they said this will be to Bioshock (1) what Bioshock was to their former games. Sounds awesome, let's never bring Bioshock 2 up again (that was milking, this is rightfully using the name Bioshock, although Icarus sounds better). Another point against Bioshock 2, the lead developer was the guy who made the Fort Frolic part of the first Bioshock , which was good in gameplay concept, okay in level design, but had nothing to do with the rest of the game. TL;DR - Give it some more time to prove the setting could work, Icarus sounds awesome, and Bioshock 2 was the milker.
For the record, the Bioshocks were pretty mediocre once you get past the decent narrative. It's just another mindless shooter only this time they're RIDICULOUSLY easy thanks to there being no real penalty for dying.
To be massively late, I love posts like this. Saying X isn't very good if you look past the best aspect of them. I mean Sim City 4 isn't very good once you get past the decent citybuilding, I mean it's just another mindless world generator. Of course it's fucking mindless when you remove the thing that gives it purpose jesus christ.
Well I for one am very interested to see how this will turn out. Will there be something to plasmids or will it be something mechanical? We seem to have something related to Big Daddies but mech versions and running off human organs.
I'd hate falling to my death from that height :ohdear:
Oh no, it's not the fall you should be scared of. It's hitting the ground :ohdear:

I like Infinite's teaser too though, spikes your interest without revealing much, if anything.
The new setting is exciting and adventurous and romantic and there's nothing wrong with it.
I like that the setting is less run down.
why are people still saying this game looks steampunk it doesn't look like steampunk at all
Look at the gadgets and stuff in the screenshots, and last time I checked giant zeppelin cities in the sky are pretty damn steampunk. I mean come on the big daddy just looks like a big boiler with limbs.
i thought the title bioshock was because it took place under the water therefore explaining the existence of the word bio in bioshock
Biology is a natural science concerned with the study of life and living organisms, including their structure, function, growth, origin, evolution, distribution, and taxonomy.[1] Biology is a vast subject containing many subdivisions, topics, and disciplines.
It's called Bioshock because it's about experimenting and altering biology.
Look at the gadgets and stuff in the screenshots, and last time I checked giant zeppelin cities in the sky are pretty damn steampunk. I mean come on the big daddy just looks like a big boiler with limbs.
It's not the steampunk style. It's too clean, too blue. White balcony in the trailer, roses etc.
I'm sure it will be fun though. I still have BioShock 1 in my cabinet and after hearing about BioShock 2 aka 'the milker' and 'weak story' I look forward to something new and fresh.
Yeah if it was due to the water, it would be called Hydroshock.
i thought the title bioshock was because it took place under the water therefore explaining the existence of the word bio in bioshock
Bio has nothing to do with water...
One thing I don't like is the character design, at least the girl doesn't look very real (he face is strange).
i thought the title bioshock was because it took place under the water therefore explaining the existence of the word bio in bioshock
Jesus, BIOSHOCK (the title) has nothing to do with water. Bio, as in modifying, altering biological properties (I think it's the right word) as in genes and such. (Ninja'd) It's great that they change settings. If they would make 3 or 4 games in the sea it would be boring since they would probably try everything that could be done underwater The new "sky" setting opens up more space for new and innovative things that can't be done in the water. As long as they keep the plasmids and such, I will play every bioshock, even if their setting is a goddamn cave.
It's not the steampunk style. It's too clean, too blue. White balcony in the trailer, roses etc.
:what: That has nothing to do with what steampunk is. There's no set colour pallet. And roses? How do roses stop it being steampunk?
Give it some more time to prove the setting could work, Icarus sounds awesome, and Bioshock 2 was the milker.
This man is, correct we should give it some time for the setting to work and another thing I would like to throw out is that this game is in development so things have a tendency to change for example look at Bioshock when it was in development, instead of rapture its location was an abandoned underground lab that was discovered in the 21 century and instead of having Little Sisters, Big Daddys and Splicers it had drones, soldiers and predators. So just give it some time and we will see if its any good.
The trailer is amazing. I love the setting.
