The city fell into the water.
The people made rapture, and by doing so, found the 'slugs'.
They made adam,
Plasmids,
RAPTURE.

2 problems. The first is that the stories aren't related. The second it the buildings sub-structure would be destroyed on the bottom of the ocean, assuming they survived the crash and sink.
It's just Bioshock set in a different scenario. Bioshock meaning changing of the DNA and such (plasmids). The whole series is based around genetictlly changing humans. Just because it's Bioshock doesn't mean it has to be underwater.
I'm not even listening to the stupidity and complacency going on here. The excuses I'm hearing are the exact sort that have always been a dead ringer for when a soon-to-be-released shitty film adaptation of something awesome is getting a ripping Eli Roth would deem excessive. They always try to rationalize the decisions and make excuses for it, pale ones that just aren't GETTING that what's being pitched simply doesn't WORK.
And if you don't understand that, if you can't plainly see the ruin before you, I can't help you. Go ahead, sheep, give me your stupid boxes, I'll consider each one a personal compliment, so when this shit goes South, I can be the first to say I called it the second I saw it.

I'm quite entitled to state my opinion, and my dissatisfaction with the direction being taken with this "Bioshock: In Name Only". Also, my liking of anime is neither here nor there. You're idiots if you're going to disregard an entire facet of an art-form you could end up liking, and even more so if you're going to criticize me for expanding my horizons beyond my own culture.
Do not forget, you guys opened hostilities on ME.

System Shock was called so because it was technological modification, cybernetics and stuff.
Bioshock was called BIOshock because it's biological modification. Being in Rapture is just a setting, it had nothing to do with the name.
Bioshock Infinite will have biological modification, like Bioshock 1 and 2 did. Thus, the name makes sense even in the new setting. I really don't see what you're getting at. The reason it isn't Bioshock 3 is to emphasize the different setting.
If the name had anything to do with water, the bottom of the ocean, a dark/scary place, anything at all in rapture besides the biological modification, then you would have a valid point. But it doesn't.
I personally call that a cop-out. They still have nothing to do with each other.

I don't know whether you're just being stubborn, but I'll try to sum it up for you. Bioshock doesn't mean any thing to do with Rapture, or any kind of setting at all. It is to do with all of the biological implants you get.

And in the time I posted that, he got banned.
I like Irrational Games so I'm going to buy this.

Enjoy your ban. The RC has some nice views this time of year.
Looks like my other thread is dead.

expect for J-Dude :eng99:
The picture of the man with his leg up makes me think he's about to jump off and spread some kickass machinery wings and fly at you or something.
The trailer was really interesting. Up in the skys now?
For a moment, the fight pitted DeWitt's scoped rifle vs. this combative man and a swarm of crows — well, a murder of crows, to use both the proper term. Murder of Crows is also the brand name of the bottle from which DeWitt later drank in order to obtain the ability to send out his own angry birds.

In one moment of the demo, Elizabeth was placing a storm cloud over the heads of a crowd of gun-toting men; DeWitt blasting forth with electricity to ignite a storm of lightning on the crowd.
Is it just me or does the guy who's eyes you're looking from in the trailer sound kind of :downs:? Especially when the big daddy stomps in front of him.
But then again Jack in Bioshock 1 sounded retarded too so i guess they just want to keep with the trend of having your player character sound scared/weak to fit with the eerie atmosphere.
I love steampunk flying machines. This game is going to be sweet.

sorry guys. usually im better at calling them, sorry to put all that effort in my post let me redact it a bit.

there you go
Fyi: Synopsis
how are they augmenting their abilities without adam? i assume they are going to have something like adam but 'not adam'. seems sort of lame.
I don't know but think. Adam is what fucked over Rapture. So they probably have some sort of Non addictive power juice.
I have described it to the best of my ability.
How about you go fuck yourself? I'm not reading through 9 fucking pages of people talking back and forth. I get it, you're one of those System Shock fuckers who won't give Bioshock the time of day. Well fuck you, Bioshock was great, and Bioshock isn't Bioshock without Rapture. It has no business being called Bioshock if it has NOTHING to do with the previous games, so fuck off. If they wanted to make something new and different, they could've called it something else. Bioshock is known for the things Rapture had. The "giant robot" is an obvious analog for the Big Daddy; what the fuck about that don't you get?
A trailer is supposed to give you a first impression of the game, I shouldn't have to undergo extensive research to understand where the game is coming from. And if 2K or whoever is developing this one wants Bioshock fans to accept what they've altered, they'd present it in a more tactful way than this, because so far this is sounding less like ANYTHING to do with Bioshock, and more like the flying Bowser Fortresses circa Mario Brothers 3 turned into something more photo-real and having a game made about it. Not necessarily a BAD thing, but again, my issue is with them trying to incorporate Bioshock into this. When they made Bioshock, they didn't call it System Shock 3: Sea of Dreams, they renamed it, told us it had something in common with it's forefathers, and left it at that. Portal is meant to be set in the Half Life Universe, but they certainly didn't call it "Half Life 2: Aperture Chronicles".

I love this one. Watching Japanese cartoons apparently gives you an insight into their culture that us lowly mortals cannot hope to achieve.

Wait wait, this game isn't in the same universe as the first two?
That takes a load off of my mind.

You just don't understand his logic, man.
Is it really worth the time to talk about this bloke?
Did they ever actually say the game wasn't set in the same universe as Rapture? I was kind of hoping it was.
