I am very interested in this game I enjoyed the first two I want to see how this one turns out, also wouldn't someone notice a flying city eventually unless they paid people to hide the truth.
Yeah, the idea behind the city isn't that it's hidden: it's supposed to be a monument for everyone to see.
I called the city in the air thing. This looks amazing though.
I'm actually liking how Infinite is looking. Weapons of the period are pretty cool, extreme patriotism is a great thing to base a Bioshock around, and going from closed environment to open air is a good idea. If one of the clockwork cyborgs has Maxims strapped to its arms, that would be pretty awesome.
I hope it's a tad cartoon-y like the cinematic.
I'm afraid that if I play this game I'm going to develop a fear of heights.
Not gonna read the other pages, but I'm guessing it's a randomn game with the title Bioshock in it?
It's not called Bioshock because it's underwater, it's called Bioshock because the plot revolves around modifying parts of your biology. Same goes for Bioshock Infinite, I'd imagine.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but the plot of this sounds A LOT like the original pitch for Bioshock 1. And that was on of the more awesome game pitches I've read.
I'm really confused as to why so many people think bio = water. :raise:
I dunno, It looks good, but considering it is set BEFORE rapture, it would have been cool if there were hints at the sky-utopia in Bioshock one and two. Things like audio logs of people remembering what went wrong 'n' shit.
It's not in the same narrative as the first two.
How many times did we have to say that up to this point? :v:
How many times did we have to say that up to this point? :v:
I've said it at least 5 times, and I've read it about 20 by now.
Did they ever actually say the game wasn't set in the same universe as Rapture? I was kind of hoping it was.
CP'd from a RockPaperShotgun article:
RPS: My initial question upon seeing the demo is… well, is this actually the same universe as Bioshock? Ken Levine: I’m not going to answer that question. But will say… you’ve just seen the demo once. There’s stuff going on which isn’t immediately apparent. That’s all I’ll say
:iiam:
Its nice to see the game changing style. I don't mind this one bit, it looks incredibly sexy.
Murder of Crows is also the brand name of the bottle from which DeWitt later drank in order to obtain the ability to send out his own angry birds.
There. Plasmids will be gained through snake oil tonics. That's great, they really had a good idea there.
I hope another version of the Big Sister comes along in this game. They were so badass.
I hope another version of the Big Sister comes along in this game. They were so badass.
Since they're grown up Little Sisters, they can't exist because Little Sisters don't.
Holy crap guys, a game that isn't tinted brown or green! Something that's bright! HATEHATEHATEHATE picky guys, I like it :(
Since they're grown up Little Sisters, they can't exist because Little Sisters don't.
Not an actual Big Sister. Just a foe with the same abilities as one.
...Am I the only one that's really pretty pissed it's not in Rapture, or at least under water in some form again? The water was what made Bioshock, the fact that at any time some glass could rupture and fuck you up added to the atmosphere, and just made things so much more intriguing. They really killed it in Bioshock 2 by making you a Big Daddy, and thrusting you out into the water... Killed the its presence. I dunno, I'm kinda biased towards water as ridiculous as that sounds. Something about it just makes me think. I realize it's not in the same narrative as Bioshock, but this is clearly intended as the third in the series. I just hope they have some good tie-ins to Andrew Ryan in it or something. For example, maybe they'll reveal he was born in Columbia.

So sorry for having an opinion, I forgot I was in Soviet Russia.
So sorry for having an opinion, I forgot I was in Soviet Russia.
read the thread. people have said the same thing as you on every page. don't get defensive, sorry if i hurt your feelings.
How about you go fuck yourself? I'm not reading through 9 fucking pages of people talking back and forth. I get it, you're one of those System Shock fuckers who won't give Bioshock the time of day. Well fuck you, Bioshock was great, and Bioshock isn't Bioshock without Rapture. It has no business being called Bioshock if it has NOTHING to do with the previous games, so fuck off. If they wanted to make something new and different, they could've called it something else. Bioshock is known for the things Rapture had. The "giant robot" is an obvious analog for the Big Daddy; what the fuck about that don't you get? A trailer is supposed to give you a first impression of the game, I shouldn't have to undergo extensive research to understand where the game is coming from. And if 2K or whoever is developing this one wants Bioshock fans to accept what they've altered, they'd present it in a more tactful way than this, because so far this is sounding less like ANYTHING to do with Bioshock, and more like the flying Bowser Fortresses circa Mario Brothers 3 turned into something more photo-real and having a game made about it. Not necessarily a BAD thing, but again, my issue is with them trying to incorporate Bioshock into this. When they made Bioshock, they didn't call it System Shock 3: Sea of Dreams, they renamed it, told us it had something in common with it's forefathers, and left it at that. Portal is meant to be set in the Half Life Universe, but they certainly didn't call it "Half Life 2: Aperture Chronicles". (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - SteveUK))
I'm pretty much on the same page as this guy... 'Cept my page has less rage and is more optimistic.
Seems nobody likes change or a designers attempt at doing something new. They don't want to do the same fucking game for you time and time again just cause you can't accept something different from Rapture's setting. Designers like to try something new and different..hence DESIGNER. They design shit not make things over and over again for you. The same thing is happening on the Bioware forums. People bitching about the new direction Bioware would like to take Dragon Age 2 and how it isn't exactly like Origins. Pretty sad people can't try to accept some change and difference with a companies' games. Also, yes I know these companies like to make money but they like to not be bored out of their fucking mind as well.
My gripe isn't completely against the setting, it's mostly the sudden change in the direction of the story. As J-Dude said, why deem this as Bioshock 3, when it has (As far as can be told) nothing at all to do with Bioshock? Why couldn't this be Sky'Merica-Shock, and why couldn't they continue development on the Rapture oriented storyline in a fitting Bioshock 3?
Because they didn't want to. It's still Bioshock, you still have gene altering and powers and such. It's just drinks rather than injections and the sky instead of the sea. And Rapture is played out. A setting loses it's atmosphere the more you go there.
