I am the biggest Bioshock fan in the universe. This does not please me.
It isn't even being made by the same people.
I dunno why, but I want to say this takes place after the previous Bioshock games somehow. Technology is even more advanced to a point then it was in Rapture. Either America got their hands on some major aspects of Rapture's structure or the American flags are actually some sort of altered thing like the Confederacy was.
These are just guesses, though, so v:v:v.
The game takes place in 1912, rapture was built in the 40's.
I feel sad for people who think Bioshock is a masterpiece. Pathetic console players, and youngsters, they don't even know what System Shock is. Bioshock was nothing, but a basic shooter with terrible game mechanics. Ken Levine can suck my dick. I no longer want him to make another System Shock game. He would turn it into a console shooter.
Bioshock 1 had some great moments (and quotes), and an interesting athmosphere.
But yeah except for that it wasn't anything special (those Andrew Ryan quotes were great though).

Funny... yet they still use gramophones on Columbia.
I feel bad for the people who think Bioshock is a basic shooter.
Because, you know, plasmids are in all basic shooters these days.

It's the whole 'console games are streamlined and thus terrible because they're not as complex as PC games' thing. Or something like that. I don't see why folks would care, a game is a game and whether it's good or not isn't based on how 'streamlined' things are or such.
It shouldn't be called Bioshock at this point. The game doesn't really feel like a Bioshock, now that it's 2 games into the series. Should be a new title or something.
The trailer looks kickass though, and the new Big Daddy looks like a maniac. I can't wait for it IMO

replace plasmid with any other gameplay altering trait and there you go
Maybe its when rapture was being built?
That city could actually be a placeholder built before Ryan got into power.

Yeah it is.
As the man making a comic about the first game I have to say I'm probably the biggest fan to actually post in this thread. I loved the original System Shocks, and Bioshock is right alongside them as one of my favorite games ever. I think people who have bad expectations for it are the people who compared the first BS game to the second one when it was released. They were made by different people, get over it. If you didn't like the second game, then good news, this one isn't being made solely by them, it's made by the grand old company that developed the first game. I personally think it'll be great. It's not like the city is called "Rapture" or it's going to be Bioshock-in-the-sky or something.
Holy shit I jizzed!
I know this is off-topic, but where are you guys getting those TF2 sprite avatars?
All shooters are basic shooters by that logic then.
super ninjad

The games don't share a narrative, read the Kotaku article.

Fucking elitists.

Ah, I see.

Well it seems they aren't branding it as 'Bioshock 3' but rather a spin off of sorts which is totally fine, allows them to branch out and try new things without 'tarnishing' the main brand line if the new things fail.
Yeah it is.
Sort of. Not everybody is on board.
I hope the main antagonist is as memorable as Andrew Ryan.
Sort of. Not everybody is on board.
You're complaining because they don't have the same cook and bathroom cleaner anymore?
Fucking elitists.
Yeah nobody likes a snobby PC gamer.
All shooters are basic shooters by that logic then.
Exactly this. These people have no idea what they are talking about.
I don't care if they don't like the game, but it's not a basic shooter by any means.
This needs to be a lot longer than Bioshock 2. Hated how short the second installment was. They really need to learn from Bioware, seeing as i can play Mass Effect for up to 60-80 hours.
You're complaining because they don't have the same cook and bathroom cleaner anymore?
But without the same cook the new cook may serve food that they might not like meaning that the team will not be as motivated :saddowns:
I'm sick of the people who bitch about System Shock being so much better than Bioshock. I've played both System Shocks and both Bioshocks. The only real difference was Bioshock had less menus. The gameplay was virtually the same except in System Shock if you want a new gun you open a menu, equip your gun, equip the ammo type, then accept. In Bioshock you press one button to choose the weapon andd one other to choose your ammo.
HOW IS THAT A BAD THING? Fuck I hate PC elitists, they're worse than console-tards.

This.
It's not called Bioshock 3. This game is to Bioshock 1 and 2 as Battlefield Bad Company is to Battlefield 2.
