Starcraft II Megathread V.1 'Hell, It's About Time'

[QUOTE=Chunk3ym4n;23977254]Whats the necessity of LAN? It might make a difference with a FPS like CS but with RTS like Starcraft II, lag isn't a huge factor unless the game hangs up.[/QUOTE]
So pirates can play LAN games through their shitty VPN tunnel networks without actually buying the game.

So you don't get ip banned when 100+ people login from the same ip.

for big tournaments, the ones that happen at the huge lan events.
i've been to a few where the internets been a bit ropey, and you definably do NOT want internet disconnecting during a critical game. atleast with LAN you always know you'll be able to play.

Once the battlenet protocol gets cracked the pirates will be able to play over LAN anyway, and then the pirates will have LAN and not us :(
Yes sure, but the point is to have a protection that lasts for a while. Some skilled programmer will eventually come up with some kind of bnet emulator, but they will never get all the features as we do.

I don't think the point of spending millions on a DRM system is to delay full blown piracy by a couple months.
You're right about the features however. You have to make a game worth buying retail (online features), not make it harder to pirate (which never work).
So I just played an online game, my first in a long time.
here is how it turned out [url]http://screplays.com/replays/shadowcat/4331[/url]
Other then me being slow how can I improve?
[QUOTE=Godrek;23977277]Were you focusing your fire? 6 marines should be able to take down at least 1 or two zealots easily before they break down the wall.
[editline]07:57PM[/editline]
Oh and consider sending a few SCVs to repair the depot too.[/QUOTE]
Yes I was, second of all the scvs couldn't get to it fast enough.

Yes it is. If it manages to stay uncracked for a few weeks/months, most people will just buy it. Anyone who won't after that time wouldn't anyway.

There's no way for that to happen.. a few zealots cannot take out a supply depot that fast.
I'm gonna do my 1v1 placements as soon as I can reliably beat a very hard random computer every time
[editline]12:07AM[/editline]
Hard is easy for me now but I haven't tried very hard seriously yet
[editline]12:07AM[/editline]
I am ignoring insane because it simply cheats

Ooohhh how wrong you are
[QUOTE=mercurius;23977336]So pirates can play LAN games through their shitty VPN tunnel networks without actually buying the game.[/QUOTE]
Oh I see so it's not because you want as little latency as possible because you're pulling 400 APM in the deciding fight of a tournament game

9 pool insane/very hard and you win every time :V zergling rush go
I play Toss and any decent human player can beat that
Every ai difficulty is horrible compared to a real player.
Not really
Horrible in that they don't react and adapt or protect themselves from cheese like a good human player would but they macro and build armies crazy fast
Honestly if you don't want to cheese the AI the best way to beat them is to fend off their intial rush and strike back, they tend to rush very quickly and if you take advantage of that you can turn it around and counter attack them.
On second thought since you play toss you can just get an army of like 50 colossi hallucinations and make them surrender.
That's always fun
Shouldn't be too hard because if I have 50 sentries I could wall my ramp until kingdom come
Good lord. 50 Sentries could wall off half the map.
Just beat the campaign, here's my comments:
[sp]The dark voice HAS to be Duran--he isn't hinted anywhere else in the campaign. At the end of Brood War you discover that Duran isn't human but some kind of corrupt xelnaga. He created the hybrids and planned to lead them into armageddon.[/sp]
Just won 8/10 games by 6pooling.
:v:
You people and your cheese
No one in bronze league can defend against it.
I crush all building blockades because people dont build anything behind their 1 supply depot.
All the protoss have 2-3 zealots to my 8-24 zerglings
Also it's fun.
v:v:v
You are the reason so many people hate zerg.
damn zergies
[editline]01:01AM[/editline]
not like Toss don't have proxy pylon though
[editline]01:02AM[/editline]
and cannon rush
[editline]01:02AM[/editline]
and Terran has bunker rush, too
Also since protoss are "overpowered" so to speak, they'll end up getting nerfed
and since zerg is considered "underpowered" we'll get buffed.
Kerrigan smiles upon me :woop:

They don't need to if they send a few SCVs on autorepair as soon as they've seen it

It's bronze league.
:v:

Haha no they're not. If anything Terran is probably strongest right now.
You're in bronze, no one can beat a 6pool, why are you talking about balance?

That's why I put quotes.
I don't think they're overpowered, but I see so many people bitch about void rays.
Blizzard is probably gonna nerf em.
Actually nah, I'd say they're all about equal right now

They've BEEN nerfed.
All I see in this thread is void ray talk right now. They're reeeaaally not as good as eveyone seems to think.

I guess people will always find something to complain about.
