Yeah I have been watching some commentaries, specifically Husky's, learned a good bit from watching them. It'd be cool id there was a list of what is effective against what or what is weak against what somewhere, not sure if there is.
Do all the counter challenges, actually do all the challenges they all help a lot.
I'm typing up the full thing right now, but I'm first gonna have to say: What the hell were you thinking with this?:
I try to survive for as long as I could, I noticed he left some of my old base standing so I tried to escape and build up a small fleet to beat his wraiths, the nexus placing was rushed since it was a last ditch attempt to beat his battlecruisers and wraiths and rebuild my forces
As a reminder: I'm no pro, and some of these are just nitpicks that I hate to see, so take some of my advice with a grain of salt. I also realize this is a match against a friend, so it wasn't taken as seriously as a normal match would be. The list is in mostly chronological order of when I wrote the note down, but some are rearranged for better reading and may refer to parts that are later or earlier in the replay

@Dash - Blue Terran (Dash) vs Pink Terran

Made expansion late Self-explanatory, you waited until your base was almost mined out before you started making another Command Center
Geeze, that took a long time to refine that. Hopes this helps you Dash, even if some of it is just me being a picky douche.
Watch checkprime v justfake, you can do fine on 1 base as long as your opponent isn't insanely out macroing you which shouldn't happen if you keep tabs on them and harass as much as possible.

GaLM even reading your posts is like Husky's tips ooze out. Many  s
It was a 30 minute game, that's way too long to effectively 1base in a real match.
Of course, of course. Getting expansions up earlier, faster and more efficiently is something I'm going to work on tomorrow.
Fly your nexus to an air expansion
Today i won my first match againts a Hard bot. Here's the replay: http://www.mediafire.com/?3ilu0f7ae1v13bp I'm fairly new to Sc2, though i played Sc1 back in the day.
We were out of resources, but I managed to put down 1100 worth of combined gas/minerals in resources, while out of resources. Wat. Dude r u dum? theyre all teh rage, i have a action figur of 1 but i lost it cause its invisable lol. Quit messaging me ingame then not responding when I message you back, hoe.
Basically yes, it's called having the other person on your team giving you resources.
I yelled at my friend earlier, like, really loud: "Lift your nexus!" Then I realized.
I tried lifting my supply depot. It only goes down.
I tried lifting my supply depot. It only goes down.
I have thought the same thing from time to time except with the armory. Look at that majestic beast, doesn't it look like it could just fly away?
I don't even know how I got my build order as terran. I can't even tell you what it is, I just remember it naturally. I build SCVs until my cap is reached, put down supply depot, get 2 more SCVs, two raxes, all while building SCVs, when my scout gets back from the enemy base (usually around the time my raxes are up) I build two refineries, saturate them while building marines, get a tech lab rax, get stims, build marauders and marines.
Just look at those fans that could lift that fucker sky high.
I have thought the same thing from time to time except with the armory. Look at that majestic beast, doesn't it look like it could just fly away?
Nah, it looks like it can't. All flying buildings have these landing paddy thingies on the bottom. Now the missile turret on the other hand, should be able to lift off and than go shoot air units out of the sky and be awesome.
Maybe you should build the SD a good 2-3 cap away.
I tried lifting my supply depot. It only goes down.
Did you know if you raise supply depots you launch units into the air Not really but that would be amazing
Did you know if you raise supply depots you launch units into the air Not really but that would be amazing
Why do I feel like the terran would do this in their spare time?
I build SCV's til i'm 9/11, then i build a Pylon/overload/SD while my command center trains SCV's. After 3-4 more i build barracks and a Refinery.
Maybe you should build the SD a good 2-3 cap away.
I build it typically either one or two SCVs away, its not a exact listing, if you get one of my SC2Replayed replays it lists my build order.
Siege tank that and you have perfect air defense.
Siege tank that and you have perfect air defense.
Not EXACTLY. Voidrays or b-cruisers could both probably break that with enough mass.
I'm sad that the Engineering Bay can't fly anymore :saddowns:
I suck hard with terran, suck hard with zerg, and slighty shitty with toss. is this normal or am I doing something wrong.
how 2 zvz?
how 2 zvz?
Play terran
Play terran
i wouldnt play terran cuz i have self respect
how 2 zvz?
6 pool lulz
Okay got it http://filesmelt.com/dl/Desert_Oasis.SC2Replay I'm the protoss and be merciless I'd like to know as much as I can
I'm gonna start off by saying that both players in the replay were actually right around the same skill level and that both needed improvements. With some proper forethought from either side, the game could've ended a lot quicker. ------

@Fusilero - Blue Protoss (Fusilero) vs Red Terran (Haithun)

No Control Groups Very self-explanatory, look back up at the post on the previous page. Control Groups would've helped you maintain what little you had.
Too much time looking at (early) scout You sent out a probe as soon as the match began, since it's on Desert Oasis I won't look down on that (since it's a very long walk distance), but when you finally got the probe in the base, you spent quite a bit of time just staring at it instead of keeping an eye on your base and actually building up. You should be able to see at a glance what someone is building/doing, then back to your base to keep stuff in order.
Wasn't making probes for a long time/Barely made any probes You made a gateway and then did what I said above, just stared at your scout as you moved it around instead of actually making any probes. When you finally did get around to doing that, you only made a few, never saturating your base, and staying at an extremely low income rate for the entire game.
Queued up many units to spend built up resources Queuing up more than 3 units at a time to be made is generally a bad idea (even 3 is cutting it), mostly because this means you have 200+ resources just sitting out of use. I know it seems like a good idea to spend your 500-1000 built up resources all at once by queuing up, but you could be using those resources for upgrades or more buildings. Instead of queuing up 5 at a time, try 2-3, and just come back occasionally to make sure the building is still producing units (An inactive building is a useless building)
Had few production buildings For most of the game you stayed on 2 gateways + 1 Robotics Facility. This meant you were sending out units very slowly, if you had just made a couple more gateways you would've been in a much better state and had a much bigger army.
No backup defenses You never had any cannons helping to cover your front door, a few cannons shooting from the high ground can turn the tide of a battle and will let you have a defense always around that area (so you could expand out without too much worry). The only time you got cannons was when you were being harassed by Ravens later on.
Stayed on 1gas Self-explanatory. You were only getting gas from 1 assimilator, and you were definitely feeling it when you had over 1k minerals but only had 100 gas.
Made a warp prism, barely used it Also Self-Explanatory. You only used the warp-prism to drop the probe off at the island, but you had it for a much longer time before that. You could've used it to drop off your guys at his back or warp in a Dark Templar somewhere (not that you had the Shrine needed for them)
Researched Warpgate tech, but barely used them. Whenever you turned your gateways into Warpgates, you would warp in a unit or 2, and then have it sit there until you turned it back into a gateway. You have to make better of it then that.
Lost first Colossus needlessly Your first Colossus came out and you brought it right up to the fight outside your base, causing it to die pretty quickly when you could've set it up behind your units and it would've been in better shape than dead. It helped take out the enemy's units, but losing 300 minerals and 200 gas worth is nothing to take lightly.
Stopped unit production After that fight (where you lost the first colossus, about 17-18 minutes in), you stopped making units besides colossi (which were coming out of a single robotics facility might I remind) for a nearly solid 3 minutes. During this time you could've had some zealots or stalkers being made, but you opted to not get any.
Never upgraded In the entire game you never bothered to get upgrades for your units. The Terran had 1armor1attack for his infantry while you had 0-0-0, this gave him an edge over you. Not only did you not get the basic upgrades, but you also ignored the Colossus's Thermal Lance upgrade, which makes it go from a range of 6 to a range of 9. This would've been extremely helpful, because it means the colossi could engage outside of the attacker's range and not die because it was right next to the enemy's army.
Lost 5 Colossi needlessly The Terran came at you with another small group of Marauders and Marines, and you took them on with your 5 colossi. The big problem is that you also had units at the front of your base right around the corner that could've helped, instead, you waited until 1500 minerals/1000 gas worth of T3 units were dead. C'mon now.
Waited too long to expand/Nexus on Island far away from resources So not only did you wait until 24+ minutes had passed, but you also put the Nexus hideously far away from the resource line. Income would suffer heavily because of how far away those probes had to travel back and forth, and even had there been full saturation, it would hardly pay off.
Didn't reinforce back defenses after they were taken out So while you were being harassed by Ravens, you placed 3 cannons down. He took out 1 of these cannons, and used the gap to continue placing turrets. When you chased him away, you could've placed more cannons down, but opted not to. They would've helped more than massing not upgraded Zealots and only costs 50+ minerals than them.
Made the wrong type of unit for the situation you were in You began massing zealots, I can only imagine you did that because of your huge stash of minerals, but Stalkers would've helped a lot more, especially when the Terran came in with only 2 Battlecruisers. 5-8 Stalkers would've mopped those guys up, and you would've been in a lot better position. Stalkers are extremely helpful against air.
Very inactive observer/Lack of scouting You made a single observer and sent it to the front of the Terran's base. I get that you wanted to keep an eye on whenever the Terran moved out, but it just sat there for the entire game. You could've seen that he was getting Battlecruisers long before they came into your base if you had just fluttered around for a bit. You also would've seen other info, like his expansion.
Never attacked/General inactivity This is the biggest issue, it was apparent throughout the entire the match. You never pushed out, never harassed, and stayed in your base the entire game. You could've sent those numerous colossi to the back of his base and took out his resources, but you allowed the Terran to have free reign over you. Had he been a better player, he probably would've stomped you into the ground way before his Battlecruisers even came out. Active aggression is the only way to go, especially since he left his base relatively undefended and empty.
These sure take a long time to type up. It's page 109 now.
Wow, so I've always thought my best Race was Protoss... Turns out I'm better at Terran, I love sneak nuking the enemy workers.
