Hard missions are FUN, they're a CHALLENGE, which a game is SUPPOSED to be.

I would RATHER be able to PROGRESS in a game and enjoy more of the story rather than be incredibly FRUSTRATED and BORED because I've been stuck on the same TEDIOUS level for ages.

Man I just had a fun game. Me and this other guy were playing hard defense until he he though 1 collosus and 12 stalkers could take on a thor, 4 medivacs, 20 marines, 10 marauders. Nope. I destroyed them all with only a couple loses..rushed his base with this same group I used to defend and when I got there he had a bunch of cannons and pylons (destroyed em all) in front of his base. got in. started wrecking up as much as possible he surrendered. Maybe not the most amazing game but man it was fun.
For the last few games now, I've been teching up to muta's as fast as possible while my partner builds a compotent defense, then I harass for the next few minutes weakening supply, economy, and production, just takes a lot of micro control to get that to work, and I have to macro my economy at the same time.
Got me 3 wins in a row like this before I even got close to a loss. Though, i lost pretty hard from a zealot rush that was impossible to stop.

I'm doing the challenges and I can't get gold on the second challenge for the life of me. The protoss one.
1st: 4
2nd: 4
3rd: 8
That battlecruiser and those vikings are tough. I found that a good combo is archons and stalkers.
How do I combat those mauraders and tanks? They fucking rape me.

For the battlecruiser/vikings, start by having your stalkers attack the BC, forcing the Vikings to land. Then swoop in with your pheonixes and grav beam them all, finish off the BC then pop the vikings while they're still immobile. If you still have trouble, have your Templar feedback the BC.
Immortals rape tanks for lunch.
Finished the entire campaign but apparently while I was doing so my internet decided to go out. Now it doesn't count on my profile, at least it was only 3 missions.
I used the archons for the BC and Vikings. Raped em all.

I need one more team quick match victory to get every exploration achievement, but I keep getting paired up with horrible teammates. My last game, my teammate did the good ole' five pylons before anything else build.

along that build order keep making drones & overlords, and make an extractor
after that you should build counters and scout as much as you can, you can go with roaches for a safe early game or straight up to hydras or mutas depending on what the other makes
also don't make more than one queen early on there is no purpose, just make a creep highway between your base and your expansion with your overlords and make your queen patrol between both hatcheries to larva them up, it's also a good idea depending on the map to stick a single spine crawler by your expansion, very lethal against T1 units
keep harassing if you go for roaches, retreat if he has the bigger army, on your creep + your queen + spine crawler, you'll beat the other guy's army if he's stupid early game

The only reasonable gripes I can think of for SC1 are the bad unit pathing and the 12 unit control groups

Well, I can contribute with my all-or-nothing Mutalisk rush (guaranteed not to work if you get rushed).

[B]Always[/B] spawn Drones, whenever you have a Larva keep spawning Drones. I didn't write the pop and when to spawn Overlords because you should always be spawning Drones and then Overlords when you reach the cap.
The numbers are the order in which it should be made, and when I wrote ASAP (As Soon As Possible) I mean that.
When this won't work:
- Rushers, you won't have any defence against them, and most players are rushers
When it will work:
- 2vs2, 3vs3 and such, where the enemy decides to rush one of your teammates instead of you (and hopefully he is using a less risky build)
- Against Steamrollers (takes time for them to build up the army), Turtles and such
- Anything as long as you don't get attacked before your Mutalisks start spawning
Don't be afraid to lose a few Mutas if it means taking out the enemy defences and have free access to his base, with 4 extractors and 2 mineral fields resources should be plenty. If all goes well you'll have so many Mutas you can go head on against 5 missile turrets and not worry too much (though avoid that if possible).
Also I haven't tried but I think it shouldn't be too hard to squeeze in a few Zerglings after the SPool for defence.
P.S. This most probably will not work in stuff like Diamond league or against very good/expert players, and honestly isn't a very good idea unless you either are ready to gamble the match, or are sure the opponent won't rush.

Guys is it just me or can you not redbind your keys in SC2 yet?!
Wish I could be better with Protoss... Suppose I haven't really got the hang of them yet.
Tried the Mutilisk rush lash night, that was the closest i've become to winning.

15/16/17/18 went to the vespine extractors then i got my queen, a second Lair (or, well, the tier1 version, i forget its name)
then Lair, Then spire then a shed ton of Mutilisks.
uunfortunately, when i was harassing their workers, me and my team mate got 'ling rushed and they killed our bases just before we got theirs!
Where do the custom maps I download go in SC2?

Just pop six lings to harass with and two spine crawlers in the start. If you stop their probing attack, they usually give up for a while.

I haven't played any custom maps but replays go in My Documents/Starcraft 2/Something something, so try looking there.

FPS and TPS maps are possible but have a 125ms delay online, so they aren't practical.

Delay can't be reduced? There were delay reducers for WC3 and there was almost 0 delay if the host was good.
