Wow, i just watched all of HD's check videos. That is absolutely amazing. None of the koreans seem to be making tanks vs zerg though, anyone know what is up with that?
Marauders are so much better with their stun thing, pretty easy to kite even speedlings when off creep.
After my 5 placement matches, 4 wins, 1 loss, I've been put in the platinum league :buddy:
You are gonna get utterly raped :v: Especially if you're EU, I've seen a few koreans that I remember from sc1 already.
Actually 14 pool is pretty standard.
13pool is standard, 14pool is decent if you're going for roaches.
13pool is standard
"Standard" has a very vague definition. 14 pool has been standard during all of phase 1 and 2, and the mechanics haven't changed since then. It's still the pool I see most pros going with, but maybe you have a few standard games (preferably youtube, from high-profile tournaments) I could watch?
I don't think the extra drone matters that much from 13 to 14 compared to other builds. Now if you go for 15 that's what I'd call late.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. But yeah, first game I got beaten by a Zergling rush. I'm still not 100% sure on how to beat them, I can hold off the first wave, but lose a fair few units doing so, then they attack immediatly after with double the zergs.

What race are you?
All this talk about placement matches and shit made me scared, because I accidentally fucked my practice matches away, and I'm too scared to try placement.
Fuck.
I guess I have another U.S guest pass since my friend don't want it.
PM me if you want it
To those who are in placement matches, try not to lose more than 3 games. You get put into bronze league and you get buttfucked by cheap players who make 30 thors or 20 void rays or 100 zerglings. At least in silver or platinum they play fair

Placement is easier than real 1v1s. Just try not to get placed too high if you're a new player (IMO).

Just dive right in. The only way you can learn to play is by playing. If you lose your placements and get into bronze league, it's not that bad. You can just win your way out of it. Best thing to do is not give a crap about your win/loss ratio.
Alright guys, I'll play a placement after I'm done attempting to figure out how Protoss works.
What race are you?
Protoss.
Me and my friend is playing 2v2. We just played our placement matches, 3 won and 2 lost. Still we got put in bronze league.
Protoss.
Are you blocking your ramp correctly? Place your pylon and your gateway at the sides of the ramp, then put your first zealot in the middle. This will stop zerglings from getting through, and make it so it can't surround your zealot.

Sounds like a good idea, thanks, I'll give it a go.

It also takes into account the skills of the players you face (and they may not be in their placement matches).
If you fight say 3 bronze players, and 2 silver+ players, and you lose against the 2 silver+ players and win against the bronze players, well it can't just stick you in gold because you went 3-2. It will put you in silver or bronze.
I haven't heard of anyone who went straight diamond, either.

If you can get in silver and lose to bronze players spamming units you're pretty much gonna stay in bronze no matter what.

EU version guestpass key.
Enjoy!
My friend went plat to diamond.
Gotta love the editor. I can create cinematics + scripted events + detailed map in one day, and I can customize everything! It's awesome play me and coop friend vs thousands of Zerglings.
I thought SC2 would be the end of unit massing.
HEY GUIS LOOK I MAED 40 VOID RHEYS. UMAD?

But it is. Why did you let your enemy mass void rays? Did you not see it coming? Did you not counter it? Massing is a tactic that works in silver at best.

Playing against massers is very unrewarding. They mass a unit, you mass a counter, they mass a counter, you mass a counter...
Playing against massers is very unrewarding. They mass a unit, you mass a counter, they mass a counter, you mass a counter...
Do it for five or ten games and you should be out of masser hell, though.
Is there any way to fix the error 'Input not supported'. The beta ran fine but now i cant play the real game
Woah, why the hell did I get rated boxes back there. The guy fucking calls me a cheater and I get boxes?
Haha, wow. The matchmaking system put me into platinum. I won 4 of my placement matches, but they were all against terribad people. I'm gonna get my shit rocked
Playing against massers is very unrewarding. They mass a unit, you mass a counter, they mass a counter, you mass a counter...
Then you spam zealots and rape them.

In other news; I played a 1v1 match against a Terran microfag and I was a Protoss russian, I lagged like a motherfucker and he complained that he could play well in the conitions, so I rushed him and was about to win when the countdown hit 0.
:saddowns:
Playing against massers is very unrewarding. They mass a unit, you mass a counter, they mass a counter, you mass a counter...
If you're letting them mass, there's probably something else you could've done to win earlier.
what's with people who do not scout their opponent
Playing against massers is very unrewarding. They mass a unit, you mass a counter, they mass a counter, you mass a counter...
Generally massers shit their pants when you counter them.
"LOL I have many void rays. Wait, they all died against his vikings? What do I do now? ... MORE VOID RAYS!"
