Is anyone up for a game? My name is Ricewarrior character code 626.
And US.
what's with people who do not scout their opponent
You mean regular players, or pros?
regular players lol
Massers usually don't have much to defend with once their swarm of identical untis is dealt with, so if you find a counter to that unit you can take it down with half the resource investement and then devastate him with a counter attack.
Try doing that strategy with a opponent with 30 Thors
Try doing that strategy with a opponent with 30 Thors
It's your fault for letting them get that many :colbert:
Try doing that strategy with a opponent with 30 Thors
Void Ray that shit.
Try doing that strategy with a opponent with 30 Thors
Well in the time they have built 30 Thors you should have a huge army yourself (Thors can't fire at air and ground at the same time, they keep switching between the two and end up not doing much). Also burrowed Banelings.
To those who are in placement matches, try not to lose more than 3 games. You get put into bronze league and you get buttfucked by cheap players who make 30 thors or 20 void rays or 100 zerglings. At least in silver or platinum they play fair
Have you even played against platinum players? You get rushed by a massive force of marines and siege tanks within minutes. I'd rather have a chance to dominate thors and void rays rather than get caught with my pants down during the first five minutes.
Also cloaked Banshees do wonders against Thors if you focus fire.

Don't let them find you though, Thors do extra damage against light armor.
Try doing that strategy with a opponent with 30 Thors
Marauders, Siege Tanks, Battlecruisers, Zealots, Immortals, Void Rays, Zerglings, Hydralisks, Brood Lords.
Yep, killing those Thors sure is gonna be hard.
Anyone got any extra guest passes around here?

You'll have to specify your region, they are region locked.
Hey guys, I have $90, and I want to buy the digital download of SC2 BADLY. See, I WAS going to save up for a monitor using birthday money, but no one gave me any money, so I figure why not get a game I really want?
Should I?

Where I live it was 20€ cheaper in the stores. So you might want to check a store near you and see the prices (not to mention there is ought to be a shittonne of people downloading SC2, the servers must be at max capacity).

The only game stores nearby are Best Buy and Gamestop. I don't think they're big on "good deals".
[editline]08:13PM[/editline]
And by nearby, I mean within 2 hours
What size monitor do you have now and what resolution?
A crappy old one with no stand, but it works just fine. Been playing games on em for years, not gonna be a tragedy to go a few more months with it.
Go for the game. You can save up for a monitor later
Just did the 7 hour trial and i think it's a very well made game but i'm hesitant to buy it because i don't think i'll be able to keep up with the online matches. I'd most likely be at the bottom of the auto-match and never get any higher
Just played this game, it was awesome. Played through three singleplayer maps and had a multiplayer match with a friend of mine.
Wow.

Pretty much everyone starts at the bottom, just keep playing and watching replays of yourself and better players to develop your own tactics and familiarity with your race of choice, you're going to have to endure quite a few losses before you start to get really good.
I'm jealous reading about all these people playing I can't wait till I can afford it!
Placement is easier than real 1v1s. Just try not to get placed too high if you're a new player (IMO).
No it isn't
In placement you can end up playing against someone far more skilled than you, whereas everyone in your league is about your skill level

Banelings? Nah. If you're zerg speedlings destroy Thors. Thors 1-shot speedlings (I think) but they fire so slow and a huge army of speedlings is really cheap and quick to produce. It's a very inexpensive and quick counter to such an expensive and powerful unit.
[editline]05:54PM[/editline]
Also voids are a terrible idea unless it's against like 1 or 2 thors. Long-ranged splash AA = bad
[editline]05:55PM[/editline]
All this talk about placement matches and shit made me scared, because I accidentally fucked my practice matches away, and I'm too scared to try placement.
Fuck.
Just do 'em. If you get placed low you can climb your way through the leagues pretty easily as you get more comfortable online.
[editline]05:57PM[/editline]
Science Vessel is the only unit I want online from the SP.
Oh my god I want sci vessels back so much for the eraser
[editline]05:58PM[/editline]
Actually 14 pool is pretty standard.
Nah not so much unless they're doing a really economic build. 15 is very late. 14 is lateish. 13 is fairly standard. Overpool is earlyish. Anything below that is early.
Then of course 6 pool is in a league of its own
i could see science vessels come back if zerg and protoss sides get a counter or something like that
How do you counter Void Rays?
Science Vessel will probably make it's comeback in Heart of the Swarm or whatever the Protoss one was called.
How do you counter Void Rays?
Hydras. Marines. Stalkers.
[editline]06:21PM[/editline]
Or something like vikings phoenixes or mutas later in the game
as long as you make sure you take out each void ray individually instead of letting the units go wild
