FFFFUUUU why'd I click that, I have a fucking impulse to click spoiler tags no matter what.
Fail. That's why I isolated myself from such threads before playing the campaign.
The ending was great I can't wait to see what they plan for the expansion. Will it be during/before the Wings of Liberty storyline, or after?

Probably after.
I've just finished the campaign. I'm usually not one to play properly in RTS games (i love to use trainers and mass rush hundreds of units for the fun of it) but I pulled through and SC2 is one of the very few RTS that i've played through properly.
I have a few questions.
[sp]So if Tychus is dead, or possibly left dead for the other races to pick him up, could that spear off in another revenge storyline? My gut feeling is that they probably won't recycle this plot again, but i'm curious on opinions either way[/sp]
[sp]I've also found out about the secret Media Blitz mission. If I go back and play through the archives, can I unlock it this way? Or must I play through the whole campaign again?[/sp]
Rumm was given the task of training young Sarah Kerrigan. Rumm wanted her to use a telepathic assault ability she had displayed once before, but she refused, so Rumm had a kitten injected with a tumor and demanded that Kerrigan destroy the tumor or put the kitten out of its misery. She still refused, even when he pointed his repeating pistol at it. Later that night, he discovered she had telekinetically disabled his weapon.
Kerrigan’s refusals to obey Lieutenant Rumm led him to try something drastic; he brought her brain-damaged father into an adjoining cell and threatened to inject him with the same tumor-inducing substance that had been inflicted on the kitten. She still refused to cooperate, so he said “so be it” and ordered the injection. Kerrigan warned him she would use her power to kill her father and herself instead of allowing that to happen. What a nice man!
The only difference between very hard and insane is that the latter gets 7 minerals per trip instead of 5 on normal minerals, which makes it really unfair.
Ya about one minute into the game I got raped by like 5 immortals a colossus and a fuckload of zealots.
I played my first multiplayer game, lost. This guy just made like 50000 marines and owned my face.

[sp]While he probably is dead, I hope wasn't killed (though I'm quite sure he was). Infested Tychus riding a Torrasque would be awesome though.
About the secret mission: Yeah you will need to start a new campaign since you need the starmap to acess the mission (or if you have a save from back then you can load that).[/sp]
[sp]for some reason I didn't really like the secret mission. I liked the rpg aspect with Raynor but that's the only thing special about it. Ot wasn't really as mind-blowing as the secret mission in SC1[/sp]
[sp] Why are people sad that Tychus is dead? I thought he was an asshole for most of the game [/sp]
[sp] Why are people sad that Tychus is dead? I thought he was an asshole for most of the game [/sp]
What are you talking about? He was fucking awesome.
Damn population cap, got to 200 with 3000 of both gas and minerals (and a huge income). Of course this favoured the other team since they were 2 and I was alone (so they could have 400 total).
They're 2 and you're alone. It should be expected that they have an advantage.
Had the cap not been there I could have reached 400 or more and most probably crushed them.
...And they would've reached 800 or more?
So I just beat a very hard zerg AI as terran, I'm going to go try to beat an insane, can anyone tell me if this is a good indicator that I will do decent in multiplayer?
Good job, but I don't think it's a good indicator. If anything you understand the basics of the game, which is good, and should be a good start to go off doing 1v1s. The strats against bots don't need to be as good as during real play, though, so be careful
They're 2 and you're alone. It should be expected that they have an advantage.
I had secured more resources, I could have reached 500, they would have struggled to get past 400 (because I had finished the initial fields, was 2/3rds through the expansion ones and had the 2 gold ones left, they had finished the initials and were about to finish the expansion ones). All those resources mattered little because once my main army was out there was no way I could rebuild enough before they had taken out a lot of my expansions (especially my 2 gold ones).

Ah, I see.
I WON A GAME!!
yay

I utterly dominated this guy, his strategy was to build a bunch of vultures/banshees and attack my base. Luckily I saw him building them with a ghost early on so I put up anti-air missile towers all around the perimeter of my base. His strategy was pretty smart though, I had built about 4 vultures which he destroyed with his own, then he landed em making them immune to my AA towers, luckily I had about 30 marines on hand which saved me from his first invasion, I lost a few towers, some supply depots, but apart from that it was pretty minor.
I then started expanding, I put up a base mainly for gas and built two starports there, one with reactor for vultures and the other with tech for battleships, I started cranking out the vultures and battleships, and with my reactor barracks from earlier I sent a steady stream of marines over. Now came the fun, I had 3 barracks cranking out Reapers, by the end I probably had nearly 30-40 or so. (I don't know what the max selected units is)
I realized he had a resource base next to his own with only 2 banshees, but as I did, he charged at my newly set up base, lucky for me I thought ahead and my planetary defense combined with 4 AA towers I destroyed his forces, taking severe unit casualties on my part as well. ( I had to use my SCVs to kill his landed vultures faster lol)
After this I gathered my vultures and reapers, I nuked the previously mentioned resource base, and sent my vultures over to kill the banshees, my reapers came in on the flank and massacred the place. My opponent had ~30 marines run down and try to save them, but I had my reapers dive off a cliff and my vultures.. oh my vultures. I had a ghost parked behind all the action...
Diagram:
Ghost (space+nuke) marines (space) vultures.
But see, I had put a nuke down in front of my Ghost as the marines were coming, trying to lead them. I failed miserably, then it struck me. I flew my vultures over the heads of the marines. The marines foolishly followed, trying to kill every last one of my vultures. Oh they succeeded, then they blew up in the fury of a thousands suns. I also got an achievement because I blew so many up I think. I then proceeded to rape the rest of his base as it was completely undefended except by a lot of AA turrets, which my battlecruisers flew right over unscathed (well okay one died). My vultures laughed at this and went into assault form and blew them all up. Then my reapers came and raped everything else.
The end.
But seriously, that nuke bait was fucking awesome. I saved the replay for future reference.

From that game I got Terran Macro Master, Big Brother is Watching (Hold a xel'naga tower for 5 consecutive minnutes), Unbreakable (40 kills with a single unit (my ghost)), and Nuclear Launch Detected (Kill 15 units with a single nuke)
So, my friend just told me that if you cheat at any point in a game your achievements get disabled permanently, even if you re-load a previous save or start a new game.
Can anyone confirm this?
What is the mod scene like? Any popular dota mods?
[sp] Why are people sad that Tychus is dead? I thought he was an asshole for most of the game [/sp]
[sp]I don't think he's an asshole, he even said 'what a shame' before he tried to kill cured Kerrigan. Plus he said 'I made a deal with the devil himself', so he is aware he doing something wrong, but it's either his or her life, because of his pact with Mengsk. I don't think he will have a comeback, his brain is most likely a pile of pink goo. What a shame, it was fun to see him in the Odin and in the Beast of the Belly mssion.[/sp]
Because some people have a habit in clicking any spoiler tag, if you didn't finish the game don't do it.
Godrek I think you're talking about Vikings not Vultures.
Godrek I think you're talking about Vikings not Vultures.
Yeah, since vultures don't exist in SC2 MP, and aren't made out of a starport.
Well they exist in the campaign.
This may be the first game I actively play online that is still supported by the developers, so I will get to see it evolve. Just think of how different it may be in a few months time.

After. [sp] Heart of the Swarm will be about Kerrigan regaining control of the Zerg to fight against the hybrids.[/sp]

No. You can still load a previous save or start a new game.

Wow, really?
You must not play many games.
After. [sp] Heart of the Swarm will be about Kerrigan regaining control of the Zerg to fight against the hybrids.[/sp]
That's great [sp]this will greatly add to the storyline of StarCraft, I hope we will see new buildings, probably just infested Protoss structures, but I'm looking forward to this.[/sp]
guys do you know where i can download this game for mac? i dont want a torrent or anything, i want a legit place where i can buy and download it

World of Warcraft - Most changes were to the high level arena and instance things which I never got to.
EVE Online - Same as WoW
Counter Strike Source - Valve kind of abandoned it for TF2 apart from that recent update (achievements, new engine etc)
Company of Heroes - This was abandoned by Relic for DoW2, I'd really like to see them remove all of the cheap stuff.
Modern Warfare 2 - Yay no Model 87 Akimbo :downs:

pretty bad examples.
Also, I noticed that outpost defenders was around 6th on popular custom games and now it's first, any idea if the popularity updates realtime or say once a day?
scrap that its on blizzards site....

Well I always expected some badass Terran+Protoss+Zerg final showdown.
