Starcraft II Megathread V.1 'Hell, It's About Time'

haha my last game was great. He tried to early zerg rush me (stopped that.) Then he tried to break down a rock barrier to get into my base (stopped that.) Then I expanded into the area he tried to break down, set up 2 tanks at the edges so if anything came near it it got blown up. He tried to use a nydus worm 3 times (stopped all of them before they even became functional.) Expanded into a 3rd base (this one had gold minerals, yay!) After a while of seeing my gigantic base and my increasing army he eventually surrendered knowing he couldn't win. I'm now rank 5 in 1v1. Going for #1. (note this is bronze.)
What kind of rush issues are you having trouble with?
First just kept sending groups of 4 zealots until i lost.
Second guy just sent marines and marauders.
How on earth do you stop a 6 spool, that just seems retarded.
Ugh.
I'm used to using hellions, marauders and marines and winning.
But this hasn't worked as well recently.
Any other good combos or strategies?

You should be able to wall in as Terran before the zerglings make it there, whether or not you have a marine ready is a different story, but if you are really going you should hopefully be able to get a marine out and some SCVs to repair your wall and 6 pool averted.

It takes a decent amount of time to get marines and marauders, same with 4 zealots. The best way you can defend against this is to either rush roaches or go for a 9 pool and get some zerglings up to harass early/provide yourself with some early defense. Don't be afraid to make a few spine crawlers either, especially near your mineral line/near cliffs to stop reapers.
Just barely got this game installed I have a 7 hour free trial. So far it's fucking awesome.
Hey. My friend has a problem with his game. He has a 9800 GT, 512mb (latest drivers), Vista, a 1.8ghz amd dual core, and 3gigs of RAM. 5 minutes after he gets into any game, he crashes with an error saying his graphics card memory is low. Shouldn't 512mb be sufficient?
Maybe the processor is bottle necking the GPU, just a thought.
Also Gamespot posted some benchmarks for the game with a 9800 using Intel processors.

Nice thread, good info.

Are you serious? I thought that fad died after beta.
Just pull your drones/scvs/probes off the line and destroy them. By the time he gets to your base you should have at least one marine or what ever.
Stop the initial rush and counter attack and you win.
ugh. Destroying 4 hatcheries on hard in the mission "Zero Hour" is fucking hard.
Fall back on the high ground then mass marines and medics while upgrading weapons and armor until the ten minute mark.
Once the timer reaches ten minutes, venture out with your bio-ball and venture to the left and you should come across three hatcheries and a big group of zerglings and hydras and three spine crawlers. Pull the zerg from the spine crawlers then wreck havoic. Try to not to kill the drones as they can respawn a hatchery, but if that is not the case. Just venture north of that area and you should come across a mildly defended lone hatchery.
Took me a couple of tries but got it.
Is there anyway to stop early game rushes as a zerg?
dont you have a queen by that time?
What kind of rush issues are you having trouble with?
yeah it really depends what you're going against and what they're throwing at you.
We need some maps without those damn ramps.
Whoa what the fuck I leave for 10 minutes and there's already 80 new posts

Box for you, that's one void ray against two queens, and he still managed to kill one queen.
Honestly I'm thinking about getting a EU copy so I can mess with them, wondering if its possible. Might have to make a second account but it might be worth it.

Best way would be to make an EU bnet account and then go buy the downloadable one from the eu store for that.
[editline]10:29AM[/editline]
Oh, and who the hell goes in with a single void ray? at least two is mandatory.
Professionals always go in with 1 Voidray.
Professionals always go in with 1 Voidray.
Then they're stupid, I would go with at least 2 and some zealots, even if it takes more time. I think it's worth it.
Shit sucks, can't have two SCIIs (EU & NA) linked to the same account :frown:
Goddamnit Blizzard, if you make different region versions of a game, at least make players able to buy two or more to the same account. Fuck I hope D3 won't have Regions, though it most likely will.

They've been talking about removing the region lock(you'd be able to switch server but lose all your league stats, like in wc3)
They've been talking about removing the region lock(you'd be able to switch server but lose all your league stats, like in wc3)
No they haven't. If they had then they contradicted themselves on saying they won't on the NA forums.
They said they were going to add the ability to play with people in other regions.

transfusion. and if you notice by the time he had 3 void rays, psy had hydras.

One mod =/= the entire company, you can probably find the article if you google it, too sleepy right now to do it meself.
So I guess I'll be going to buy the game now then :psyduck:
and if he had waited instead of going in with his first void ray, psy would have had hydras even faster. the only reason you lose to a fast void ray is inexperience and not scouting/reacting fast enough.

Q: If I have already purchased the North American version, can I also play on the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand servers?
A: No. To have the option to play on both servers, you must purchase the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. This solution is specifically targeted to address gamers in Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand who have social relationships with North American players from previous Blizzard Entertainment titles.
Q: Will I be able to play on any of the other StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty regional servers?
A: No. Players who purchase the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand version of StarCraft II will have access to the Southeast Asia/Australia/New Zealand and the North American Battle.net servers. No other multi-region play will be available at this time."

For once its NA that gets screwed.
