Valve: Everything We Do Competes Against Half-Life 2

I know why we have heard nothing about ep3
It's becasue Valve knows that as the final part to their most successful game, they need to send it of with a big, spectacular bang. They want to make it just perfect before they tell us anything about it.

This.
Episode Three will be like Crysis vs. DOOM in graphics.
A COMPLETE NEW FUCKING LEVEL OF AWESOMENESS
The problem is that things like awesomeness and graphic overhauls take time.
But when it's released, everyone will say that it was worth the fucking wait.
If it's not, angry HL2 fans invade Valve Corporation and kill Gabe :downs:

linux is not for gaming

Neither is MAC, yet they released Steam for it.
Windows shouldn't have monopoly on the computer gaming market.
And its a mod that is very different from it. I don't expect a friendly greeting by any means but it's not completely necessary to get a smack on the hands.
actually the first gmod builds were all just the hl2 story and maps with rope and other shit
I honestly thought TF2 would have beaten HL2 by now.
Linux is probably the best available OS since it is open source and allows you to do so much more than Windows and Mac.
Like what?
It is a good choice for text editing I admit

How does that have any relevance today?

I don't see how they can compare portal's popularity to Half Life's popularity. And there is no way in hell Portal 2 will compare to Half Life 2.

You might say otherwise when you play it - we never know, it might be completely orgasmic.
I bet Portal 2 is going to be released, then while we all aren't looking and through all the commotion, they're going to be like "LOL GUESS WHAT WHILE YOU'RE NOT LOOKING, EPISODE THREE RELEASED! :holy:"

You haven't even played it yet. And from what I've seen, especially in the new video, it's going to have quite a bit of exploring and storytelling, quite possibly to a degree not unlike Half Life 2.

Exactly, plus portal was a 3 hour addon to the Orange Box, Portal 2 is a full game, it's multiplatform and it has co-op multiplayer.
This is going to be huge.
linux is not for gaming
Linux actually has better disposition for gaming than Windows have, due to better optimization, and just unarguably better system base. The only reason why it isn't fit for gaming is, that Windows pretty much hold monopoly, which makes developers and thus gamers and thus again more developers stay at it.
Not to mention that possibilities of customizing Linux are incomparable to Windows, which would prove as a big advantage if somebody actually aimed to make it more suited for gaming.

Now I really don't get why Valve doesn't work on Linux Steam client now, as there was already partially working Steam client leaked, and there were official news reports that Steam is coming to Linux. Like I said, Linux gaming share might not be major, but the actual release would change it.
