No one remembers that little flap on every old PC game's box? The one that opens up to reveal an additional "back cover"?
its not really the same IMO
Except that's Far Cry Instincts, the shitty console only version that gave Jack Carver shitty superpowers. [editline]03:29AM[/editline]
Is it just me or did Valve to a pretty bad job on The Orange Box and TF2? [img_thumb]http://www.directgamekeys.com/product_images/l/orange_box_1_1___32389.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://www.gamegit.com/images/stories/PC_Games/TeamFortress2.jpg[/img_thumb] I mean seriously, Orange Box looks like some kind of professional 3D modeling software suite and TF2 is kind of bland given the extremely artsy content. I always thought they should've used one of the title screen art pieces for the cover. Also a neat idea I always had for L4D was to make four versions of the cover art - each one using one of the campaign's movie posters as the cover. Would've been cool for collectors. And for the GotY edition that had Crash Course on-disc, they could've used the Crash Course poster! Brilliant! (God knows I would have bought that shit up, too. Missed opportunity, Valve!)
Valve's boxes, ever since the advent of steam, have been decidedly subpar. The boxart varies in quality, but the boxes are always dvd cases with the installation disc and a little slip of paper telling you how to activate it on Steam. It's happening everywhere, but Valve are by far the worst offenders. My copy of Combat Flight Simulator came with a more or less inch thick A4 sized manual, with tons of superfluous information on war events, planes, flying tactics and the like. It was [i]glorious. Now you're lucky if you get a proper DVD case with a manual longer than a few pages stuffed inside. Anyway, related: I've always liked the Max Payne 2 boxart. Demigod had cool box art too.
