Scripted events aren't a bad thing, too many scripted events are.
Still, it doesn't sound like the right direction for the series. Especially if he's citing it as the main feature of the game, you know that's bad news. 'Scripted events' is the kind of selling point you would see on a Call of Duty game, not a grand open world shooter.
Far Cry 2 was a complete and utter disappointment. It also didn't help that the gameplay was dumbed down for consoles (no leaning or prone).
Just because an fps is released on pc doesn't mean it needs these features. Do you really think they didn't include prone because of consoles, despite the fact that the majority of console games have prone?
What the fuck was Far Cry 2 anyway, it wasn't related to Far Cry 1 in any way
It was the game ideology more than anything.
far cry 2 was only as boring as you were. if you approach every situation in the same way then of course you're going to get bored! mix it up a little, there were so many different ways it could go. my favourite was setting fires to scare them out of hiding then taking them down with a sniper rifle.
shit must be intense, since they need stuntmen to playtest it.
Not to mention every 10 minutes pop a pill for malaria, every 30 minutes run and do a mission for more pills.
And i'm laughing at stealth, It was full of bullshit.
Laying low in the bushes, a man with a shotgun patrols, doesn't see you but due to the fucking AI they're omniescent, turns to you, and shotguns you dead in a fucking second.
I remember when I did an assassination mission. I killed a guy who was unable to be seen in a back alley, and somehow, everyone automatically knew that he was dead and that I've killed him. Haha.

He's highlighting the main points relevant to his resume, not the main points of the game.
Taiga setting please.
Also, no infinitely respawning enemy checkpoints, better freeroam stuff and less weapon degredation.
and no tiny bushes that completely stop a car
and no tiny bushes that completely stop a car
Oh god I forgod about those. "Okay, take a shortcut across this field OHGODWHATTHEFUCK!"
Mapping was quite fun in FC2, I really enjoyed making my own environments. There should also be more non-hostile people. In FC2 like everybody in the contry besides buddies hated me. Also, no more that "HURR YOU ARE DOING A SEEKRIT MISSION OUR TROOPS WILL BE HOSTILE TOWARDS YOU!" Ugh.
I'd like it if they made some kind of heavily customizable mercenary system. You could hire mercenaries in major locations and equip them with any weapon or type of armour within the game.
I wouldn't mind going back to what Far Cry 1 was: big levels but with linear objectives and set-pieces where needed à la Crysis 1.
I thoroughly enjoyed Farcry 2 and the whole idea it was trying to portray :smith:

playing the game then SUDDENLY EXPLOSIONS AND HES DIVING OUT THE WINDOW INTO A HANGLIDER
You have to give Far Cry 2 credit for making one of the most terrifying moments in gaming: When you're walking and you hear a car engine rev up. You know you're fucked.
I had that recorded on my phone for a long time as my text message tone. My butthole flexed a little every time I heard it, even out of the game :v:

Same here, I loved the game. Wasn't exactly what most people call good, but I got my moneys worth out of it, and then some.

There were no factions in the field there were only angry Africans with guns.
This game needs the AI engine that STALKER has
There were no factions in the field there were only angry Africans with guns.
And Boers too.
Just because you don't have a pair of useless keys that turns the player's view slightly, it's "dumbed down"?
No coop, prone, leaning, all due to consoles.
And Boers too.
Well, they're still technically Africans. South africans, though.
One of my ex-coworkers was south african and he looked identical to the blonde haired boer mercenary in FC2, same voice too :v:
I remember the guy working at Ubisoft who fucked up the voices and made them really fast and weird in Far Cry 2 apologized for it and was really sorry. :v:

Wait, so that was deliberate?
You got a source?
I enjoyed the multi-player. Especially the maps, some of them were amazing.

Even though the voices were fast, I thought the Jackel's voice was pretty badass.
I hope they keep Far Cry 2's setting, but just make the actual gameplay better.
Because there is not other thread for the Farcry series I will post it here. Does anyone know any servers for Farcry? The multiplayer servers are down and have been for like 3 years.
Wait, so that was deliberate?

No it wasn't deliberate, but he was sorry he didn't fix it.
It was in a magazine I read talking about Splinter Cell Conviction.
Far Cry 2 was so terrible I got it for free with my graphics card, installed it to see if it was as bad as I remembered, and it was worse so I promptly uninstalled it.
One issue that I think is overlooked is the driving. The driving needs to feel like driving (not just fast running)
