No Party Hats and me went warp 10 yesterday
Everything started shaking violently
I would absolutely love to be a crew member, especially if I get to hit the console and go to various warp factors. Will give this a download :).
Security or medical team all the way
How many maps are there? Just Poseidon and that one with the broken other ship?
I can only find those when creating a server
All the maps for EF1 are usable. There's a specific category for RPG-specific maps - but all of them can be used. There are others out there which were created by various groups.
So you're looking at well over 1000 maps for use in a game. Not including retextures and variations for existing ones.
Another good place to visit; home of the original mod itself: http://forums.ubergames.net/
Is this just basically Star Trek roleplaying? I've always wanted to be the guy who sits at the console and presses the correct warp factor button according to what Kirk yells out!
Kirk: Warp Factor Three!
Me: Yes, Captain.
I can feel the excitement already!
You can even be the one guy at the back of the Bridge whose only purpose is to roll across the floor during a battle sequence. If that's what kind of mood you're in.
Dive is the best emote of ALL time.
Grizz, would you mind leaving a post in this thread when the next.. weekend play is about to begin or something?
TLO's servers are public 24/7 - no app required Ray :) The same can be said for most active servers, as far as I know.
...and of course you can local play to explore the maps and spam as many starship buttons as possible until you find out what they all do :v:
So does that mean me and my friends could play on a little private server against NPCs or something?
I think I saw something about an event happening on the 29th.

It seems that's a serial roleplay, can you even join these?
Yes, if you make an account and join it.
Just don't interrupt the roleplay. That's the finale of the Asteroid Field SRP run partly by Grizz. If you guys mess that up THERE WILL BE BLOOD!!!! :v:
Hold on, is the map simply the interior of the ship or is it possible to simulate combat and such?
There are weapons, so you can probably also fight

Down to the map really. RPG maps generally come with weapons as standard. But others come with bonus features - like simulated weapons fire and such. A new version of the engine being worked on allows all maps to simulate shield strength, hull damage, self destruct & other ship systems which have previously been map-dependant.
The same is accurate about the exterior. Some maps are entirely modelled (inside and out) - though these are usually smaller one. Others allow for SOME exterior gameplay - such as the Enterprise E, which has a hull walk. But many are just interior with some additions. For example, some maps allow you to transport to different areas. Others allow you to land the ship on a ground-based section of the map.
Map creators are quite restricted by the age of the game engine at this point. But that's why it's still being modified =)

Yes, all Serial Roleplays are open to jump in. Though non-members are generally restricted to junior positions unless a senior post can be filled temporarily.
Star Trek: Asteroid Field - Saturday - 20:30 BST / 15:30 EST ( http://www.twitch.tv/tlo_grizz )
Star Trek: First Steps - Sunday - 17:45 BST / 12:45 EST
Star Trek: Beyond Infinity - Sunday - 20:30 BST / 15:30 EST
I run ST:AF, hence the additional link. However the map used is so big that it requires the modified version of the game engine (a patched RPGXCE). You would need to sign up for that as it's currently in testing. That being said, it's first season is ending (after a long 6 months) this week so... not really worth it :v:
