You haven't played Fallout 1 and 2 have you?
STALKER
Fallout 3 would have a better chance with me if it wasn't on the gamebryo engine. Also, I just don't like the whole 50's theme it has going on. I'm more of a 40's or post-vietnam guy.
I'm basing this on Fallout 3 release and Stalker:SoC release. In terms of polish and clunky combat Fallout 3's the lesser of two pretty shoddily made games. Don't even mention the voice acting.
And I've only seen visual/balance mods for STALKER. If there's some large database of really cool STALKER mods I'd love to see it.
STALKER is known for Mods that change fucking everything. I really don't know what you're talking about.
Gonna be honest
I love Stalker
I love fallout
But when you get down to it
-Games get boring REAL quick without mods
-Both linear
-Not much to do in each game
They are completely incomparable!
Though I do feel S.T.A.L.K.E.R is a bit overrated. It's good, but some people make it out to be a single greatest game in all of existence...

It's my favorite series :saddowns:

I don't think S.T.A.L.K.E.R is overrated; I never really hear of it outside of a few forums...The game has zero ad campaign so pretty much the only place you see the game is in the few stores that carry it and word-of-mouth.
I like fallout, but fallout 3 just felt like oblivion with guns.
Nonetheless i loved it.
Stalker is cool too, but I suck at it.

Speaking of that, I was shocked to death when I saw Clear Sky in walmart one day.

Shit, didn't see that. Typo.
Yes, I have played all the Fallouts. 1 & 2 on the PC.

I actually saw SoC at some bargain store in some country town for $15. I lol'd.
They have 2 similarities
-Power Armor or Exo once you get it you won't take it off
-Your best gun will be the Gauss Rifle
-Once you have alot of money there's nothing to do
-enemies seem to have no challenge when you are more Experienced

I don't know about the other two games, but SoC became piss easy after I got my first scope.
Different games. Can't compare them.
STALKER is known for Mods that change fucking everything. I really don't know what you're talking about.
It's just I've seen a lot more FO3 mods that add a lot of shit to the game, new guns, character models, places etc. than I have STALKER mods. The majority of STALKER mods I've seen are gameplay effect mods that change mechanics in the game, ammo, nightvision etc. and then of the course the big game changers like Lurk and Complete.
So from what I've seen modwise FO3 has a better mod community.
I find them both too different to compare, and both have given me hours of fun.

While STALKER doesn't have as many mods as Fallout 3, saying FO3 has a better mod community is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen.
Fallout 3 mods are 95% Furry, Anime, Hot Girl, and ports.

I never wore the exosuits in STALKER because you can't sprint with them on.
And in a game like STALKER with no vehicles or fast travel? You need sprint.

I want what you're smoking.
OP's next thread: Forza vs. Gears of War.
Fallout New Vegas... it will be the shit and the real FO3.

Don't be silly. Both are Post-Apocalyptic Sandbox FPS.

Very few are Anime or Furry, maybe in the Japanese modding community that proves true but they're as isolated as you can get. Hot girl yes, and ports yes, but there's still been some really good mods that add a lot to the game on FO3's part, I haven't found that kind of original content for STALKER.
Examples:

To name a few. I like STALKER, I really enjoyed it, but I like FO3 more and I've gotten more out of it, mainly due to the fact it has such a robust modding community.
I would say people get so dragged into STALKER, not because directly because of game mechanics, but of how they occur, so that people have really cool scenarios and their imagination can take a lot from that.
Also, STALKER doesn't have any bullshit. You are equal to your enemies. You aren't over powered where it takes 3 headshots with a shotgun to kill you.
The only thing that can make you different is your use of the game's artifacts. Which is a really cool feature.
Compare them? Impossible! The two games are entirely different in almost every aspect.
honestly its far easier to get into fallout 3 than any stalker game
I found it reversed.
I would have to go with Fallout just for the minor quests you get. I thought it was mind blowing. Plus the little stories you can find out about was just awesome.
I played Clear Sky and I didn't like the combat or the atmosphere as I did with Fallout.
These games are incomparable to each-other.
Sure, they're post-apocalyptic, but that's where the similarities end.
I like em' both equally.
I like Fallout 3 because it's easier to get into, but S.T.A.L.K.E.R is probably a better game overall. They're too different to compare though.
Well, both series are damn good in their own way, but they're quite different from eachother. To "properly" compare them, you'd have to wait for FNV, since that'll be "closest" to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
So I'm just going to wait for that.

Gross overstatement.
