I prefer Alliance for the starting areas and pretty much all of the leveling up until outlands. Mainly because my first ever character was ally so there's a lot of memories and nostalgia in running through ally leveling areas, especially 1-30 of humans.
Apart form the fact that I absolutely love Stormwind, I preffer Horde in most other respects, and because most people I play with are horde.
I always played alliance for the first year or two of my WoW time mainly becuase I love dwarves, gnomes and spacegoats. I just felt the cities were a bit more appealing and the mounts were cuter.
After a while I grew tired of all the kids on my alliance server and I rolled a prot warrior on a horde server. I then fell in love with horde and undercity and the extremely ugly undeads so I transfered my alliance there.

Alliance. Because no matter what realm you're on, their economy is so fucked up that a level 10 with mining and herbalism can make > 100g/day.

I prefer the Horde. But from what I've seen because I've never actually played as an alliance character a lot of the cities/towns look a lot cooler, if that makes an sense.

I think a lot of people prefer the Horde simply because of how they look, and their back story if you know it. I've tried playing Alliance characters before and I could never carry on past level 20-ish, their side is just so boring to me.
Despite the recruit a friend benefits i am on horde.
i love horde i only played a dranei be cause they had the best racials for hunters
