Furnaces generate light. It's a lot harder to keep them running for that purpose though.

lava, but that's even less of a resource. Once you have a good cave, coal isn't an issue, but it can take a while to find when you don't have torches.

True. I have only posted one time in this thread. I have posted in others, but not very much. I lost interest in MC a few weeks ago, and wanted to get back to Nerdy's server. I played a lot there, it was the only place that I could build stuff. Very few good bases were ever made in my SP, if any. So I had nothing to contribute.
Does anybody else find it annoying when you're trying to do something underground like mine out a room, and then you come across a big ass cave, then you have OCD like you have to explore that cave, except the cave never ends and you get lost? fuck caves
