I fixed the loading issue with Minecraft on my laptop.
When the game updated (I don't know how, as there was no internet connection at this time..), I received an error about AppData/.minecraft.
Now I assumed that it was because my internet was off, so I turned it on and then I launched Minecraft again. This was when the loading screen froze.
I tried turning off writing protection for my whole users folder seeing as AppData itself was hidden. (God I hate protection systems like these!)
That didn't work, so I tried making my computer show hidden files and folders.
And what do I see? AppData was still writing protected. :/
Anyway, I removed the 'bin' and 'resources' folders from my '.minecraft' folder, launched the game, and yay! Log in was fixed by Notch and my game worked again!

So I'm not entirely sure about what caused the problem or what fixed it exactly, but I just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else would need this info..

I said the map generator, not the way it 'draws' the terrain.
He asked for snowy mountains and biomes that fit with the biomes next to them (no deserts next to rainforests or tundra). DF has localised weather and ecology (different plants are native to different biomes / areas).

The fact that the world is drawn using ASCII characters has no relevance in this situation, as I was talking about the detail of the world and not the detail of the rendering.

Well I try to keep myself offline most of the time because I constantly get annoying messages from people asking rhetorical questions and damaging my mental health.

Not all of them are like that, but you can understand how coming back from the bathroom you get 5 messages, 4 saying "WHATS UP?" the other pleading desperately for you to answer.
