He's playing 'oh shit, a new update is out.. hey you 4 people in teamspeak come quickly and help me look around then I'll shut it off'.
We're no longer on the server and haven't been for nearly half an hour. The server currently has no protective software either at the moment due to the new updates knocking out Hey0's mod.

Ya Seriously I'd be pissed if this was some big company that promised updates but then don't deliver, it's one guy and clearly he's spoiling some of you.
I'd like to see a server browser for SMP.
Any server I try to join I only get a few chunks loaded at the spawn and sometimes none so I just fall through the map.
No one else has this problem (at least I never heard anyone say he has it) and I will never ever be able to play SMP if this will continue to happen... No one else on the servers has this problem either.

The way it was described made it sound like Nerdy had let a few regulars from the teamspeak in and was just playing with them because the protective software was down. If what you said is the case then I was misinformed.

You have a really slow internet connection or the server is lagging.

I think you need to stop looking at him like some guy in a basement making a game and more like someone who has made a hell of a lot of money. "Even quitting his full time job", I doubt this is necessary a sign of dedication to the game, and more of a sign of how profitable it is.

This is the unfair comparison. People shout and scream at Valve when they take longer for free updates, but Notch escapes complaint for something that will be under far less scrutiny.
Not only that, but these free friday updates seem to be an excuse not to add anything/change any dire problems with the game until the last moment. I mean, I love fences and everything, but where you have such huge problems in SMP that need addressing ASAP, don't bugger around with "lol chickens".
