I'm not griping about how Minecraft handles PvE (which is already uninspired, however,) I'm griping about how you have two goals and only a few ways to accomplish them: Shelter yourself, don't die.

I guess, when you get to that level, it's a simple few qiestopms: Do you like building things from blocks, and is it an original idea?
One is an opinion, the other has an obvious concrete answer. Minecraft certainly isn't the only game to feature building things from blocks.
