Got it working now, removed all other files in .minecraft/bin (extracted versions of minecraft.jar, skin folders) and now it runs as it should.
I decided to buy Minecraft, now I'm waiting for the money to arrive from my bank account into my Paypal, so that I can pay it.

Persister allows you to keep your items when you die or change servers I believe.
If anyone could post a link to persister I would be grateful.
