You will shit brick blocks when you play the latest version, it has dynamic water, lighting, new enemies, day/night cycle, snow, and a shit load of other stuff. It also has lots, lots, lots, lots, lots more stuff you can craft and gets updated all the time. Loads of new items and blocks too.

How big can the maps get? judging by these carto things, they can get pretty huge, but what is the limit at?

Buckets are blocked. I think you can edit the persister saves or something to give yourself lava and water though. Or admins are giving it out but i really really doubt that.

You could still use a packet sniffer to record the packets and then send them back to trick the server that you are picking up stuff.
