Well right now notch has given us nothing except fences which really don't fix the main problems of the game. He also gave us night and day on smp which does nothing to us server owners. We still have to deal with the people who hack in stuff and grief. Also he still has yet to fix anything like why people crash. Yes the game is in alpha but shouldn't you fix stuff in alpha instead of adding new stuff to the game?
So all in all the game is shit right now for SMP and single play is like it always has been.
You know, Alpha is the time of adding features to the game, Beta is testing the game for bugs.
Right now, Minecraft is in a Stage of both.

I just bought the Minecraft Alpha simply because of reading this thread, and I do not regret it.
Oh, neat, I found my first dungeon and I didnt even have to dig for it, it was on the surface

I thought dungeons only spawned under ground or at least dirt/gravel/sand? Was it 100% above ground?
The last one I found on my main save was just slightly below ground. the ceiling was made of sand and it caved in. Was the most awesome dungeon I've found yet!

Notch warned us that it would be buggy and that if we have any bug complaints to email him, and not whine about it. Notch warned us it's unstable

It was inside a hill that had two openings at ground level, so like i said, at the surface, but still under a hill.
