So If I dual booted ubuntu, how would I access my games from Ubuntu without installing them over again?
So If I dual booted ubuntu, how would I access my games from Ubuntu without installing them over again?
Depends on the games, for TF2 you can copy the GCFs from the Windows install to the Linux install and steam will figure out what it needs to download. For everything else, you can try the above with varying degrees of success.

Linux Display Driver - x86 Recomendación de NVIDIA 310.32 21.1.2013 Which ones are the appropiate drivers for me then ?.
Anyone know why "/me" was removed for this update?
Anyone know why "/me" was removed for this update?
Believe it had been removed for a while (at least in beta), because of people using it to attempt scams http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3064703

Is performance worse or better in those Linux versions of Valve games?
Is performance worse or better in those Linux versions of Valve games?
Overall performance has been better under Linux than Windows for me.
Overall performance has been better under Linux than Windows for me.
Same with me too
Im glad to hear that.
Im glad to hear that.
Yeah, been very impressed so far, both with CSS and TF2. The goldsrc games (CS and HL) have been working well too, haven't played them much though
Working really well for me in a fresh copy of Arch w/ nvidia proprietary drivers, TF2 is running happily but seems to be locked to 60fps (without vsync on). I'm not sure if it's because I'm using desktop effects with Cinnamon, but I'll try fiddling around a bit tomorrow (like trying the beta nvidia channel)
Is performance worse or better in those Linux versions of Valve games?
Wouldn't say worse, but I couldn't find method similar to -dxlevel 81 for TF2. Also, Steam won't install from the Ubuntu Software Center and has problems doing it in the terminal.

Steam for Linux is officially out and Disney didn't put Club Penguin as a Free-to-Play on Steam yet, damnit. It's probably like GOTY but I won't get it unless it's on Steam.
This last update was really good, TF2 jumped in performance quite a bit on my laptop. But man the loading times are still terrible, it takes like 3 minutes to load a map.
Anyone tried playing TF2 inside an ubuntu vmware instance? I've installed latest Ubuntu version on vmware, with latest vmware tools to emulate graphics and what not. Then installed and updated steam, also downloaded TF2. When I start the game, I get a weird OPENGL error that has to do with older GPU cards (I have GTX 560ti) and I can't do anything to fix it. I've tinkered and installed latest nvidia drivers for linux, no luck, and I managed to even fuck up the entire ubuntu install. Any thoughts on this?
Anyone tried steam on Mint?
wow css cs 1.6 tf2 etc all run super smotth on my old 9800 gt
